I never get any email notifications when someone replies to my questions. I always check the box to get them. Anything else I should check?

Lets see if I get notified about any responses to this question Smiling

And you don't get email notifications from any other forums like the Vegetables and Fruit forum, only Ask A Question and private messages and you do have to make sure you select 'Save your changes' to make it work.

That's the way all of those are set. I guess anyway. They are colored blue with the white circle to the right. If I click on those again the circle moves to the left and the option is greyed out. So I unchecked then check them all and saved changes. I bet I still don't get notified.

Update: I did not get a notification of the first reply at 9:15 but I did get one for the last one at 9:23. So maybe it's working now.

Thanks

Now I noticed the time is not correct. I posted this at 10:24 CST but it shows 9:24 CST. I checked my settings and I have US Central Time Zone specified??

Try selecting: US Central Daylight Time and that should give you the correct time.

I don't check email often enough for those notifications to be my most useful tool. I rely on the little blue bell, which turns red when there are new replies to a discussion in which I have replied, if someone thumbs something I said, and other stuff that happens. It is very handy to me.

Really? I've never seen that setting option. I wouldn't use it, but I'm curious where it shows up.

Look at the top right of pic...
See the envelope, bell, other thing and cat?

The bell and envelope turn red when there's something...

Your viewing experience may differ...

I have a hard time finding stuff when I come here on someone's phone...

I would never try to look @ this site on a phone so that may be a different experience. On a computer browser, it's in the upper R corner, next to the tree mail envelope, just like in Stone's screenshot.

On a phone you have to open it up by tapping on the hamburger icon in the upper right. Then all the other icons will show.

Tiffany and Stone, I'm aware of the bell, etc. I snipped Tiffany's post to highlight new replies to a discussion in which I have replied. I've never observed that the bell turns red to indicate that. Rather, there is a "updated threads" column at the top of my home page that shows when my watched conversations are active. Above that is a blue bar that tells me I have x number of new system messages, ie thumbs.

On my phone I can't see the bell, envelope, link symbol, etc without hitting the drop-down menu first. I rarely bother.

I very rarely use my phone for this site, and having to open up another menu for those icons is cumbersome to me. There is enough room to just place the icons on the top row and have the hamburger open up for links to Learning Library, Database, the text links... that would make it less tedious.

I think you're right, Zoë, thank you for fixing that. I do have to look at "your posts" for discussion updates, in the drop-down menu when I click my profile icon. I have my home page arranged differently.

I think that's where some of our site conversations get confusing, not just computer v phones, but we all have our pages laid out differently. Originally I set up my pages for laptop viewing. As I gradually used my phone more, I rearranged things.
