I'm not much of a gardener, although I already love it enough to start gardening even if in a small way. Fortunately I have a special friend who does and has a huge beautiful garden that she loves to cultivate. Such wonderful passion. So I'm going to start exhibiting her flowers here, without the taxonomy. Thank you for your attention.

Those photos are scrumptious!

Just in case the poster doesn't know just yet, because she has elected to post without naming and is a new gardener, my guess is Hibiscus cannibinus 'Amethyst'.

@Johannian, you picked a perfect word to describe the pictures ~ scrumptious. Why didn't I think of that word?

Thank you for identifying the flower I was interested in. I checked it out on the internet images. The flower is definitely hibiscus cannibinus amythyst.

@DraDiana , I was just thinking about you! My favorite H. moscheutos is your cross, Scarlet Diana, that I grew out a few years ago. Big wavy red petals, dark green foliage, and a well formed plant. I kept waiting for seeds, and none ever developed. This year I tried hand pollinating, some to self, and some out crosses. Nothing. I think it's sterile, lol. Nice to see you too!

Alana,
I believe one commercial Hardy Hibiscus cultivar is also totally sterile - Peppermint Flare.
My Hardy Hibiscus rarely set seed without pollination help. If the temps on pollination day get above 90Β°F, the pods usually fail. If the plants get dry, they lose pods and buds.
Sounds like a keeper, regardless. Smiling

The temps above 90 could be a factor. Meanwhile my handful of cultivars and seed sown plants have produced seeds because I didn't care if they did or not. Hilarious!
