We came from here
The thread "Our Orchid blooms in August 2023 🌻" in Orchids forum
It is September 1. on a gorgeous, sunny day here in NJ. We woke up to temps in the 50 dgr F and and a hint of Fall is in the air today.
I start with my Vanda Pachara Delight 'Blue', opening a spike in the cage.

This old Ceratostylis retisquama had started to decline last Winter, I am really happy to see some new good growth over the Summer.

Jumellea comorensis blooms all Summer long on a somewhat wild looking plant and I like the nicely Cinnamon scented flowers a lot.

And the Bc Hoku Gem 'Sunspots' opens some more as the blooms change to lighter yellow.

Thanks everyone!
Elaine had a fabulous Cheif Sweet Orange and I had to find one for myself... I saw them at Palmers Orchids in Bradenton a few weeks ago, if anyone is looking.

It was magnificent in it's prime. I definitely need to go to Palmer's Orchids, never made it there yet! That's going to be an expensive visit . . .

I wonder who Richard Mueller was to have such an amazing plant named for him… those are both adorable, Ursula!
Oh Elaine, I can't believe you haven't been to palmers. It's practically in your back yard! Confused

Right? The Copper Queen comes to my mind, another twofer with Richard Mueller in its parentage.
http://www.orchid.or.jp/orchid...
And many more...
I love that color change as the blooms mature.

I was looking for the old Bl Richard Mueller, which causes the color change in its progeny, here it is

It is Spiranthes cernua time in NE Pennsylvania.
This is a really cute terrestrial Orchid, nicely Anise scented !
We have a good colony of a few dozen plants along the pond.

One of my nice little bargain NOID Dens from Apopka years ago. Two nice flower spikes starting to open. One of my better investments of $3.

I'm glad you got it, Glenn. I really don't need any more Cattleyas, they're just too disease-prone for me. I'm paring down my collection and the ones that die off are always the Catts so . . .

Now you have to stay healthy so you can care for that baby, and grow it into a big specimen plant like mine. It was the first orchid plant I ever bought for myself - my daughter started my 'addiction' by sending me a couple of Phals for my birthday in, hmm, 2007? Something like that. I had that plant of Chief Sweet Orange for at least 10 years, then.
