Over the years friends have gifted me with a few peonies. I have photos of two currently that I wish I had a name for.
I'll share their photos with hope someone knows them.

Love these peonies but sadly can only suggest vaguely similar cvs. Your first one looks a little like Nice Gal and your second one is a darker pink version of Audrey.
Good luck.

It is so hard to identity peonies! There are over 8,000 named varieties and more added every year, probably at least a few hundred could look like yours at one time in their bloom cycle. You'd need to compare them side by side from first emergence to seed formation. And don't feel alone, probably every single person on this forum has NOID peonies, some of my favorites have not had a name for a decade or more.

Thank you Liz, I feel like that is going to be how it goes. I have been looking through our peony group and think one might be Avalon. But you are correct. I may never know for sure.

It certainly is a gorgeous peony and lovely color.

Thank you, Bea, I really love and enjoy the looks of this one. And though I have seen several that could be the other one. This one I have yet to find anything like it. The search goes on. Thank You!

@ Elfenqueen I've been searching all over the internet and have not found any peony close to your beauty.
Have you by chance have a Peony Society or grow site near by…?
I will keep my eyes pealed when all the new catalogs arrive.

@bumplbea I highly doubt I'd find a Peony Society locally. I'm in a fairly small town. Though I could check around, thanks for that idea.
And thanks for keeping her in mind during your catalog dreams.
I know it's nearly impossible, but I feel lucky. I'll always be looking for the name of some darn plant here. I have a perennial in my zone 5 ~ Mum that's special to me, but I can't find the name as yet.
Some iris...daylily and such.
They were trades and gifts. I love them tho, even without a name. And I do like helping others find the names to their plants. Thank You!

@Elfenqueen Do you have more pictures of this peony? Would love to see them. How large does the plant get? Is it self supporting or do you have to cage it? Any fragrance?

@lauriemorningglory Sadly no, I haven't any photos of the plant. I would say that it reaches around 26-28 inches tall. I think it may have had a fragrance. I've only had a couple flowers on any peony plant at a time, so far...and those have not needed support-yet. Except the maximus. I did get them a bunch of half hoops and other things to support them though. If I need them.
My peonies survive... but I cannot say they thrive. Not as yet... I am still learning as much as I can about them. Please, any hints on their care would be greatly appreciated. Especially now that I've indulged myself this year with 6 new ones. I do wish to give them the best if I can and dream of them full of flowers.
Last year's performance was horrid.... only one plant out of 9 bloomed. Only the bowl formed one above. My weather in Michigan was nasty. I do check crowns every spring because things tend to sink here.
I'll look to see if I have the flower photo shot from a different angle.

@ Elfenqueen Sending new hope that next yer your pony's will have more bloom. We get some crazy ice and snow storms too. Sometimes it takes time for them to grow adequate root system. I have waited almost 3 years for some peony' to bloom. Ugh…

@bumplbea
Yes, we have had it kinda crazy this year too, many plants didn't do well. I can only hope they do better next year.... many of my peony are new, the older ones are getting crowded so I did move a few and that could set them back a bit. I hope the old (5) I didn't move at least bloom next spring. A couple I did move were larger plants that needed more sun... I'll just have to wait and see.
Thank you for the well wishes for next year's season. I think there's more for me to learn about these.... I have all winter Big Grin

May your gardens be blessed in the new season as well.

It sounds like you have a nice group/collection of pony's in your garden. Any others to post pics.? Would luv to see more…if ok…

….Sadly I must report that I just lost a 32 year old tree peony… heartbroken.. the ground squirrels and gophers just ate all the roots till there was only a standing trunk left with no leaves. Looked like a tiny tree trunk naked in the forest…

I think now I'm a lil discouraged that so many ground critters have eliminated several peony's over the past 3 years. What a waste of space, money and loss of all those lovely spring flowers that were always around faithfully. Bummer… Setting traps is all I can do.. and it gets old…need a break…

Where is there a better place than here to Hold a good-bye ceremony for my beloved tree peony of 32 years. Older than some of the trees I planted.

@bumplbea Wow sorry to hear about your tree. I ? have one I'm trying to bring back but I thought it was a graph. Either way...I'm still trying to save it. It died all the way back when we hard a crazy winter that killed lots of tops on bushes and small trees. If they couldn't come back from roots they were lost. But it does grow, it just needs the right spot. I hope I found it this year.
Oh how excited I'd be if I had photos to share.... sadly I don't at the time. I have a few older ones which I do not know the names of, but I do have a Festiva Maximus from a friend who has passed and the first one I bought was a Novelty form, Daisy Coronet (I thought I had a photo of that, I'll have to look). 2 years ago I bought a red charm.

I was on an epimedium binge during covid and bought like...24'ish different ones of those.

This year I bought peony.
Itoh Morning Lilac
Itoh Bartzilla
2 Top Brass
Nightlife aka Black Beauty
and a Fernleaf.

Then I found out they bloom at different times and really got excited... I want them to do well. It should look fantastic.

It sounds like you have a really beautiful collection of peony's to look foreword too. And that they will bloom in succession is also a plus.
Fernleaf is one I wanted for a long time. It is very usual. But for now peony purchases are on hold.
I think we are all are mother natures apprentices…. What a great way of putting the gardening virtues of so many .
