Good question @Seedfork, Larry. I don't have Michael Bennett, but it doesn't appear to be spatulate in any of the pictures I've seen either.

I searched for spatulate daylilies on the AHS database and there are currently 942 listed as such. But there are many that do not appear to be spatulate to me.

Per AHS dictionary, spatulate is only defined as: Segments markedly wider at the end like a kitchen spatula. https://daylilies.org/daylily-...

I guess that leaves it up to the discretion of the person registering it.
