I found the list, but don't see how to find nurseries that are within 100-200 miles of me. If I don't know the name, and don't want to look at every company on the list, there must be a quick way. By state, maybe?
We don't have that functionality, at all. The Recommendations feature is intended for mailorder companies only so searching by location was never a priority. It's something we may extend into the feature in the future but for now it's not there.
None of the feature requests for the Recommendation feature are going to be simple additions so I can't really create them on the fly. When I originally created it, I made it as a place where we could post a simple review of the companies we liked. I didn't really envision it as a big feature that would replace or compete with the other comprehensive collections of companies that exist elsewhere on the web.
But I think at some point in the future we're going to want to upgrade that feature with all the wishlist items we want and make it a lot more useful and comprehensive. It's just one of those things we need to think about and then in the future I need to carve a week off my schedule and get busy with it.
Dave: would it be possible to have a little space on our profile page where we could list nurseries for our city/state? I'd love to be able to click on a Florida member's profile and possibly find new nurseries to check out!
