Just accidentally overturned a newly planted pot of semps.

This reminded me of one of the things I love about them.

They are unfazed by most things, and insults, which could kill a lesser species, don't touch them!

I repotted and watered well....

Let's hear it for the tough little guys!

This is so true! I especially love when you find a chick weeks later buried and they're just "hanging out" waiting for you to tip them back up and brush em off and replant them

I know everyone has more to add.

Beautiful blooms that provide nectar for many types of bees.

Easy to go on vacation without worry.

Don't take up much garden space.

Do well in many hardiness zones.

Work well with crafts.

Easy to ship.

ALL great reasons!

Some will grow on a surface with half and inch of soil and can be forgotten and left out of a pot for a month or more and will come back to life with a little care.

Comes in different sizes.
Comes in different colors.

They like to live any old place.

This is getting to be quite a list.

Drought tolerant and yet thornless.
Don't need pruning unless you consider plucking off too many offsets.
Don't reseed everywhere, or if they do, they don't have a nasty taproot that makes them hard to pull up.
Very very easy to clean up the bed in the spring.
Do just fine in a pot.

I have a lot of gardens with other plants that I put in 25 years ago that I wish I hadn't because they are too much work and/or take too much water.

Don't have to dead head.
Low water needs
Great in xeriscape (is that the same thing:-))
