I have grafted these 2 maples and they were my first ones..ya they made it!!! they have the root stock growth still coming out under the graft on both of them my ? Is should I remove often or let it grow till ready to place in the landscape?? they both seen OK in the pots. Also how long till they are strong enough for the Florida sun they are around 12 months old and I don't want to rush it if they need a couple years in pots that is fine by the way they both are Ibada shaidare well something like that LOL Thank you all.

Hi Damian. Hurray!
I found this information on growth from the root stock. Hope it helps.

The rootstock above the graft should be removed as soon as the graft has taken well. Remove the rootstock tops after leaves begin to form on the scion. Others leave theirs on for a month or more.

Um, Lynn, shouldn't that be the rootstock BELOW the graft? Confused

Ok, now what you said makes sense, but ya gotta admit, without seeing that video, it was definitely confusing! Hilarious!
