In this week's podcast Trish and Dave talk about some interesting plants they recently obtained, discuss unusual fruit tree planting ideas, and go through some various gardening chores appropriate for this time of year.
I was at the Arbor Gate talk but didn't get a chance to say hello; my husband was itching to get back to work in the yard. We had already moved 1 yard of decomposed granite for our pathways before coming to the talk and had another three yards and three trips to make to the rock yard that day. He was glad you talked about how to prune fruit trees because he agreed that many people don't understand the concept. I would have loved to have heard more about permaculture and then a separate talk on chickens, so if you ever do a more detailed talk in Houston let us know!
Happy October! (it's always a bummer when the sun sets earlier, I can't get everything done in the evenings)
Misti, I'm glad your husband was glad about the fruit tree pruning. I teach that permaculture class in Jacksonville every spring (at least, as long as we have new master gardener students in the class). I know it's a bit of a drive but you might consider coming. It's pretty in depth and lengthy. I've been told it's a very good intro to permaculture!
