I am amazed there is no frog badge. So many gardens over here in Oz incorporate frog ponds to do something towards ameliorating the decline of frogs. Frogs are musical and great to look upon - a garden must.

I agree I would also buy a badge if it were for frogs and toads. Whenever I see a toad on the lawn when cutting the grass I move it to the garden out of dangers way of the mower. Sometimes I see those green frogs in my daylilies they are so cute.

I mark my calendar every year when the frogs start to sing - that is my first sign that spring is truly coming.

That's definitely one thing I miss about where we lived in Oregon. There was a pond across the road at the base of a rock quarry and every spring the frogs would serenade us. Such a lovely sound!

I always get a big thrill when I dump out a bag of purchased mulch and a confused toad comes out of the bag. What a way to end your hibernation!

Found a really cute froggie image, but I'm not clear about whether we could use it for a badge.

I think Dave is the one who decides if we can have a frog badge and makes it up for us. I do like yours!

Perhaps if you gave Dave the web address where you found the frog, he could tell if it is copyright protected or not. I like the little bugger. I have a farm pond and the lily pad badge just didn't capture 'pond' for me, but a frog certainly would.

I posted the web address in my original post (it's right above the first picture, with the black background). Did a bit of checking and it's ok to use under these conditions:

I'm not sure what category ATP would fall into. Sure is a cute little froggie, tho. Smiling

Glen, do you have a problem with Cane Toads where you live? I was never expecting to find them at my house, but we have them here. I have dogs, so I wasn't thrilled about it. We've relocated them when we found them.

Natalie, yes I have them in my garden. Alas, I know them well. I went to the mainland to launch a new book on them last Wednesday for the frog society.
It would be disastrous if they were actually in Idaho. Fingers crossed some idiot hasn't introduced them there. However, it should be too cold in your State for them to maintain viable populations.
The new book is "Cane toads: a tale of sugar, politics and flawed science" by Nigel Turvey. Their introduction and impact throughout the world is an awful story.
The problem is that when you are young your life it is ruined by your parents. When you are older it is ruined by your children.

It's really unlikely that you have Cane Toads, Natalie. They are a tropical/subtropical species and haven't been previously reported within almost 2000 miles of Idaho. Your toads are most likely Western Toads:
