Chell, that was the first time I had grown that type of Nasturtiums, the seed was sent to me by Linda @quietyard, I loved them, the different colors of the blooms and the foliage was so pretty, the white petunias were a Wave variety, the bees and the hummingbirds liked them too! Lovey dubby

That is indeed a nice banner. I grew the Alaska mix in hanging baskets several years ago. I think it is time to try them out again. Big Grin

I've always grown nasturtium and petunias together. Probably because my Mom and Grandma always did. For some reason, I can't plant one without the other. You have really captured how well these two go together!

And that's no small thing! I have a heck of a time getting nasturtiums to germinate and bloom. Two seasons I had them, none before or since, though I try them every year! Hilarious! I finally had a seed germinate last year...in September! Far too late to even hope for a bloom. Rolling on the floor laughing

chelle, how are you growing them? I have a very scientific method that has never failed me. I take a pencil, poke a hole in the ground, stick a seed in it, cover it up, and it grows. Whistling Hilarious! I've never put them at any certain depth. I've grown them all over the country, so I don't think they are all that particular! One thing is for sure though. They like poor soil the best. With good soil, you will get a lot of foliage, but very few, if any, blooms. Also, I've found that they grow best if started where you want them, instead of transplanting them.

Has anyone here ever eaten nasturtium flowers? I haven't gotten up the nerve to try them!

Natalie, in sheer desperation I tried that method this year; that's the seed that finally germinated, but way too late. Whistling

I've eaten them, and added them to herbed vinegars; they're great!
