Thanks for the new thread Lin. I enjoyed the photos. I always love the doves.

J, do I recall correctly that you once stated you would love to see some Sandhill cranes in your area? They do migrate through your state. I've been doing some research & it seems the ones who winter in my state go right on up through Illinois as part of their annual migration route.

Perhaps you can catch them as they come through or if you have some vacation time coming, go to their resting area in the NE of your state.
They have begun to leave Florida.

I may have stated as much. Hanging out in their stopover sites would be a gratifying experience. That's a couple hundred miles north of here.
We do get Great Blue Herons here.
The Great Blue Herons are pretty spectacular too! Honestly, I think they're prettier than Sandhill's.

Name: Glen Ingram Macleay Is, Qld, Australia (Zone 12a) (Lee Reinke X Rose F Kennedy) X Unk
Southern family: baby having a rest while proud parents kneel and stand near by. I only have seen this family with one young this season. The nocturnal Bush Stone-curlews.
The problem is that when you are young your life it is ruined by your parents. When you are older it is ruined by your children.
That is so wild how their legs are double jointed. It's odd to see them sitting on their "knees" but the legs are sticking out in front of them.
Great shots Glen.
