Please, can you help me understand the German name "Brauner Trotzkopf" ?
Lettuce (Lactuca sativa 'Pirat')

I understand that 'Pirat' is one German word for "pirate" and "Sprenkle" means "speckle" and "salat" is "lettuce".
.
And "kopf" means "head" and "Brauner" probably refers to 'Pirat's reddish-brown speckles.
Maybe "Trotz" suggests "stubborn" or "tenacious", since 'Pirat' was bred from the French heirloom 'Merveille des Quatre Saisons' to be more bolting-resistant.
These were my guesses, but I'm hoping that someone who speaks German and also gardens would narrow it down or correct me:
"brown stubborn-head" or
"brown tenacious-head" or
"brown brave head" or
"brown defiant head"
Thanks in advance!
