I would like to do some visual puns this year, like using a rusty cooking pot "flower pot" and old headboard "flower bed."

What else comes to mind?

I've always thought it would be fun to build a flower person, starting with flowers growing in a pair of boots, then making a container out of cut off jeans and hanging that up with plants growing out of it, then doing the same with an old shirt or jacket hung on a sturdy hanger above that.

Sounds like an interesting Garden Art project. A living Scarecrow! @Pirl might like that idea!

Then you could paint a face on a flower pot and plant it with some sort of hanging plant for "hair."

Coincidentally I just bought a blouse and skirt for the scarecrow yesterday, David. This year I think I'll allow her to sit since she's been standing for over 20 years and she must be weary!

Rhipsalis is always a good choice for hair Woofie. Of course mine would probably use Spanish Moss since I have an abundance of it and then some around here! Long growing gray curls...

The guys that installed the new deer fencing had to remove the scarecrow to do the job so she got beheaded and then the snow storms came along, so here she is as of 2/14. She's probably thawed out by now. The frame of her body is a simple little trellis that's attached to a long piece of wood.

There was an older gardener here who had a whole bed frame as his garden bed----out in his front yard.
He had filled it with annuals, which he had grown from seeds in his own small greenhouse.

Humorous signs are fun too.
I have one which should go out to my rock garden.
It reads:
I love my Rock Garden.
So far none have died on me.

I've seen an old dresser done with drawers pulled out, staggered, with flowers growing in them. One year I got an old trunk for free, had DH put a false bottom in it and prop open the lid and planted it.

And I have one sign that says, "Gardeners know the best dirt"

At last year's spring garden show in Toronto, one of the exhibits included this "garden bed".

Yes, garden beds ...

I love these!!! I'll have to find some photos of mine...after I do a little cleaning (ugh). I wish I had room for a scarecrow. I'd be dressin' and re-dressin' that girl!
