I have planted my light post with sedum and most are blooming now but all the blooms are yellow.

What sedums bloom red? I have Fall bloomers that will bloom red but I am looking for spring/summer red blooms.

All of the above should be easy to find, if not at your local nursery, online. All of them are easy to grow.

Thank you Lynn. I have Lime Zinger I think it is a Fall or late summer bloomer. If my mind serves me right I think all my Fall and late summer bloomers are pink, red and I do not know why those have not bothered me but when I saw all this yellow blooming this year I felt like I needed another color at this time of the year.

I might have to just change my design and to get color buy more sedum that have deep color leaves. I have Cherry Tart and I could pull some of the yellow bloomers and fill in between with that sedum although not a flower it would break up the yellow.

That sounds like a great idea Cinta. I can picture that in my mind, it would make a lovely contrast.

This is what I have. I was driving down the driveway and all I saw was a sea of yellow and think I need something.

Maybe take out some of the yellow and add the blue too. It is just too much yellow. When they are done blooming then there is nothing but green. I have a daylily in the front that should look pretty for about a week when it blooms.

WOW that is pretty I have not seen that one at my local nursery. I will keep an eye out for it she will be getting a fall shipment maybe like last year she will get more of the sparkler series. I brought two from that sparkler line last year at that nursery.

I got that plant late last summer/early fall. I am falling in love with the beautiful leaves. And it stands out from all the green lower growing sedum around it.

Cinta I think any different looking sedum like october daphne (which does bloom but the leaves are prettier than the bloom in my opinion) Mine is new to me this spring, and looks a bit more tan than this one, but I love that!!

We haven't had enough strong sunlight yet this year to make mine color up like that. Here is what it looks like right now.

So Lynn many of your sedum aren't blooming yet??? I'm surprised! Everything looks so healthy and amazing so that isn't an insult, just that mine are blooming so assumed yours would be too!

I think mine are behind because the have more shade during the daytime. You can see peeks of some that are blooming yellow.
I need to go out tomorrow and see what they are doing now.

Yes because mine in full sun are fully blooming!! (and if anything you guys down your way are ahead of us up here by a couple of days )

I think that you will find that this one will bloom late, like late July or August. Sure is a beauty, I just bought another one.

Cinta, I think the blue green peeking out of the green and yellow is most interesting. It adds an extra dimension to your planting which I find very pleasant to the eye. Yes, more blue-green plants like the Sparkler Blue Pearl Lynn suggested would be a good addition and doesn't necessarily need to bloom to complement what's already grown in the bed...

Greg some of the Sedum Lynn posted will not bloom until late summer early Fall in my area I would think even a zone 8 would not bloom this early.

What is blooming now for me is all the early bloomers and they are all yellow.

Bev I agree I think I just need to pull out big clumps of these yellow bloomers and replace the area with color leaf Sedum. The other issue is after they are done blooming all I am going to have is a bunch of green. NOt a bad color but it will not be interesting.

I am going to pick up some moss rose it is not hardy for my area but at least I will have colorful flowers all summer.

I need to fill a slope in zone 5 that is 10' x 185'. Should I go the seed route or the cutting route. What is a good sedum variety to plant?

I covered a slope that size at a house with the sedum I have in the picture. Someone more knowledgeable than myself will be able to ID that sedum because it is common and it is aggressive, which make it perfect for covering large areas quick. That area I put 3 small clumps last summer and before summer was over it was covered. Cutting work good with this sedum

I cut cardboard the size I wanted the area growing down the driveway to Cover the weeds.. I put a little soil on top of the cardboard and pushed the sedum in the little soil I had there.

The hillside I was doing I just added some daylilies and the hillside was covered and I did not have to ever mow or go down there again.
