Back last summer, while in a doctors office I saw an article on Head Planters, and I fell in love! They were beautiful, were planted with various sedums and other plants that complimented the heads. They looked like treasured ancient sculptures. But, they were very expensive, or maybe I'm just a cheap skate. Seems like they ranged from $125-200 each, might have been more, can't remember. Too rich for my frugal blood for sure, but I'd sure love one of each! Anyone know where to get knock offs , or how we could make our own? I've got a powerful craving for these!

I have a couple of these who were gifted to me by the kind and generous @KatG. She hasn't been around in a long time but her website is http://www.stonefacecreations....

Really nice planters but as you say they are indeed expensive. I don't know of any knockoffs or homemade versions.

These are nice Donna but I've never done them.

Looks like you've already looked at this link but you might find something here to help you get started.

Well, I looked that site over really good, and y'all, I think I just might could make some of these head planters!! I'm sure going to give it a whirl next summer. I have been wanting to make some mushrooms to go in my garden anyway, so I'm just gonna tackle them both! And even some of those leaves! Now they may look like a monkey sewed a mules hind end up with a saw briar, but I'm gonna give it a try, hey if it makes a flop, we have a lot of gullys here I can chunk the pieces in and they can help stop a wash! Try to find a foam head (wig form). Read the blog below and keep going until you see the foam head! Looks like a fun project for winter!

This is a subject near and dear to my heart, so I did some looking around (AGAIN! Hilarious! ). This guy suggested using Halloween masks for molds. Some of his certainly look interesting! Although, I think I'd make some changes to his techniques.

Well, Donna, it's all your fault. Hilarious! I just ordered this to play around with. I'd been thinking about getting one of these for a couple of years now, only to find it's been discontinued, but I found one on ebay. Smiling

Woofie, leave it to me to get something started, lol. Was this kit expensive? I've never seen one. Can't wait till you get it. Take pix & let us all kno what is in it. And if it is something we can rig up ourselves Heaven knows, I'm a master at rigging stuff up. I'm betting we can come up with copycat stuff to make our own kit.

It's just a mold and a small amount of concrete, and it's intended to just face part of a 6" terra cotta pot. But I have other ideas! I'm planning on using it on a larger pot, then coating the rest of the pot with the same concrete, and propping it on a smaller pot (for a neck area) and filling the small pot with concrete to make a nice heavy base. Won't know if that will work till I get it. But it wasn't expensive, only about $20 for the kit. It will be fun to play with!

Wow! Can't beat that! Lucky find! Hurray! I'm cooking tonight. Feed my co-workers & two doctors at work every Christmas. I fix a big breakfast on a Tuesday morning, as we start late on Tuesdays. I'm making my cream puffs tonight. Will get the hash brown casserole & western omelet casserole ready tomorrow night to pop in oven Tuesday morning. Then will only have to make a few panfuls of fluffy biscuits. Can't do it all this year with this broken wrist, can't move as fast & can't hold stuff, but they understand. We won't have the chocolate and milk gravies this year.
