Around here it looks like it will be another tough Winter for the Heuchera. A lot of ice and wind without snow cover.

Do you have snow cover Bob?
Just lots of rain here and we had a cold snap for a few days. Back to 50's and rain now. Not much snow in the mountains this year, ski areas are hurting. They got some snow the last few days but first of the week mountains will get 7 inches of rain. I'm going to do a walk around the yards. Maybe there will be a heuchera that is picture worthy.

No snow cover here, right now they are all flat as pancakes and covered with ice. It will warm up tomorrow but then extreme cold comes with lows of zero and some highs only reaching 10.

That one is Bronze Wave. Yours look much better then mine. We are going into a week of highs in the teens and lows of zero. Around here Hellebore pop up late Feb. into early March. Sometimes the Christmas Rose pops up a little sooner.

I will change the tag, a beauty. Much to cold for me, I start complaining when it gets to freezing. I need to get out and trim the leaves of my Hellebore because the flowers are starting to bud. Not doing it in the rain or frozen weather. Hope your weather doesn't last for to long and you get milder weather soon.

Heuchera are one of those plants that usually do well for me.....especially the H. villosa varieties. I have Autumn Bride and Brownies in large numbers....some of my pics in the Midwest intrroduction thread show them.

H. americana is native around here.....to the point some people see it as a lawn weed....I have lots of them, but no pics at the moment, both my local natives and 'Dales Strain.'

I usually get several seedlings a year from Brownies and H. Americana.....most come fairly true to the parent, but with differing light levels, it can be hard to tell.

I find them VERY easy to propagate....I take cuttings of the stem/rhizome....they usually have multiple branches, and separating a piece is simple. The cutting often has some roots, but even if it doesn't, they will root quickly when plunked down into soil and watered a bit...no particular special care......of course, this is my experience--your mileage may vary.

Not a good day, rot, rot and more rot. Things I've had for years! Grumbling

Good thing I have things coming soon for replacements. May add sand and grit to the soil for more drainage.

Here also on the rot, soggy wet freezing winter. Hardest hit were potted plants.
Heuchera are becoming a new obsession for me Rolling my eyes.
Lava Lamp, Kira Jersey, Blackberry Ice, Citronelle and Watermelon are new ones this spring.
After seeing the pretties from seed on here I may save seed and try that also.
Makes me wonder about Purple Palace, which I've had at least 15 yrs., why I haven't ever found seedlings? Or I didn't know what I was seeing. *Blush*

Sorry to hear that Julia , a feeling I know all to well from last year. To early to know how mine survived yet. Most of the leaves are browned and flat on the ground , but the crowns seem ok so far. But the rain of Spring has begun , 7 of the next 10 days so crossing my fingers that they do not rot.

Linda I have had many that started on there own but almost never in the garden, almost always in my neighbors lawn .

So far looks like the only ones that survived are the ones I had in pots. I put them against the house and covered them with leaves in the Fall. I pulled the leaves off and they look great. So I saved about 8. All the ones in the ground look dead.

I probably will not buy any more unless I am going to put them in pots.
