Name the cultivar that bit you, got you hooked and turned you into a Hemeroholic...

For me it is easy to remember as this is only my second year back into collecting and growing. I had a few years ago but,

'Pretzel Power' was the one my eye caught as I stepped out of the truck at 'Edith's Daylilies' in Noth East GA.
It is also the CV that turned me onto UF's.

I Love Lovey dubby Dayliy's and my list is constantly growing.

It's a toss up between Whooperee, Megan's Love, or Corryton Pink for me in 2004. That's the year I discovered there were other daylilies besides Stella de Oro. I fell head over heels in love with them and they are still in my garden.

Mine was a seedling I grew from seeds shared with me by @seedsower. The first bloom was a seedling from Roses in Snow:

I've been a daylily fan (no pun intended ... or maybe intended ... Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing ) ever since! That was about 6 or more years ago. (I can't remember when for sure.) With so many daylilies in my yard now, it seems like I have been growing them forever!

I have a few seed from some of the ones I have crossed and I can't wait to see them bloom in a year or so. Big Grin

I have some seedlings in a bed now, but I don't think they will bloom until next year. Maybe not even then! It's a wait and see situation Rolling on the floor laughing

@blue23rose I have read that some here in FL, have experienced seedlings blooming in their first year. I hope I am one of those lucky peeps that can report such occurrences next year. Big Grin

You may well be that lucky, Stan. I'm sure Becky has much faster bloom than I do!

Stan - Yes! That is true. But to really achieve that feat, you have to grow them in optimum conditions ... which I don't. Some of the Florida commercial hybridizers easily get blooms in their first year as a seedling. I may only get a few. Usually their second year here is a fun show to see what each seedling produces. And I have actually had some that did not bloom until their 3rd year even here in our mild climate. Stubborn babies!!!! Angry Sticking tongue out Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious!

Becky I sure understand that one.

I think it may be a challenge for me here in the icebox of Florida. I do give my beauties a good babying. But, in winter the temps can drop into the teens. Although those temps only last for a couple days each year, it is still cold for my thin blood. Rolling on the floor laughing and I am sure it can affect the bloom on seedlings.

That being said, I am still crossing my fingers for early bloomers... Big Grin

Thanks y'all .... for the kind words about my Roses in Snow seedling. She has a special place in my heart and my garden. I should register and name her in honor of Sandi ( @seedsower ) who I blame for getting me addicted to daylilies in the first place! Whistling Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious!

I have two. The first is Border Lord. My mother bought it for me many years ago and it gets prettier each year. The pictures below show the difference for full sun and partial shade also.

I wasn't completely hooked until I was at a nursery and saw Ruby Spider...I knew I had to have it. I bought one pot to take home and couldn't stop admiring it.

The nursery had it for half price weeks later, so I bought three more Green Grin!

Gorgeous pics, Regina! I noticed that Border Lord does not have any parents listed, but it has a lot of children. I have Bold Heritage (a child of Border Lord) and it is a nice bloomer, but doesn't open all the way until it gets hotter.

Ruby Spider is in my garden and it always seems to really put on a show.

You have two really nice ones to claim as the ones that hooked you!

Border Lord does not open fully either until it's been blooming for a few days, then no problem.

I was already in love with true lilies (Lilium) and discovered there were daylilies that had blooms that looked similar to lilies. Then in a plant trade, I received Crimson Pirate. When it bloomed it took my breath away and I had to get more. Now I've graduated to other forms too. Hilarious!
