Love water in the garden, it brings in so many interesting insects and wildlife. Birds that don't normally come to our yard make it a daily stop now. It makes the yard feel alive when you hear the water and see the movement. I have a 750 gallon pond with waterfall and a three foot water one with a statuary in it that holds water temporarily before it cascades down the sides. Planning on putting one out front next year.

I love water too! In fact it IS my favorite thing in this world. Agua.
I have a birdbath given to me by bsavage about 4 years ago. I love it. I clean it everyday. Love to provide the birds a place to drink and bathe in this heat. The bees come to drink, too. Definitely attracts the wildlife.

I don't think I could be a full blown "ponder" ... now that is a job!

Well sort of, Dave...
Aguane is an Italian word for a woodland faery who hangs out near or in streams.
I identify with the character because I love the Giant Redwood Rain Forests of the northwest (California) where I was raised. The forests are just awesome. Damp, rich, cool, quiet, strong, protecting... very safe feeling for me.

Well Lynn. I can tell you that the sound of a bird or several birds taking a bath in a large basin like I have is almost like having a water feature. When my windows are open and I'm near by and can hear the birds are bathing I stop to watch ... kinda cool.

I agree, I love the soothing sound of my water fountain, as I am working in my garden. So peaceful. I have also found the joy of watching the birds bathing in my bird bath. I was raised in the city, so now that we live in country , I just watch in awe, as the birds and butterflies visit my garden.

Team Water all the way!

We have a water garden that has lots of plants and fish and a water fountain.

Sheila is right in that we have attracted so much wildlife. Lots of frogs, birds, etc.

It's peaceful, I love it.

I have a 50 gallon prefab pond in my small backyard with plants and a couple of fish. I also have a fountain in the front yard right outside my office window. I can hear the water tinkling away as I type. This spring I converted a large planter into a water feature on the lanai. I added plants and some gold fish. It just makes me happy to listen to water trickling all around me. Add in a few bird baths and ground dishes of water........well, guess I am Team Water too! Smiling

How cool Dahl gal with the purple updo. A spot to make mud puddles. You should submit that for an acorn you know.

Team water here, too. Several years ago, when we were designing our landscape, we debated long and hard about putting a pond in....knowing that we'd have trouble keeping our golden retriever OUT of the pond. We finally decided to go ahead, but worked with the designer to make it dog friendly. Best choice we ever made.....the birds love the pond (as do the dogs). It's right off of our patio, so we can see and hear the water easily.

Water, water, everywhere!

We bought an old hot tub off of Craig's list and turned it into a fish pond. I used an old well hand pump to return the water and it gives it a nice look. I love having coffee in the swing while listening to the water and watching the fish.

I have a fountain and a faux rock waterfall also. I have plans for more, more, more!

Lowe's just put a bunch of these on sale and I got my fountain that was a display model for about 1/5 of the original cost. It works fine and looks and sounds just great!

P.S.I love Florida!

I am Team Water all the way. Nothing attracts birds faster than some water, and I love the sound. In AZ we had big ponds that DH built, and here in Colorado we have our little 'log fountain' and our waterfall (again, both built by DH... I come up with an idea and he makes it so!).

Susie (Aguane), I am so happy that that birdbath still brings you joy... you bring me joy, my friend!

Spent Saturday cleaning the three bird baths, pond, butterfly watering hole, and all 10 feeders. The largest with a fountain is directly in front of my desk. The Robins have been prolific this year and the fledglings have gathered 3 at a time waiting to bathe. In this awful heat, we have become a sanctuary for the wildlife. All creatures are suffering with the lack of rain.
