Anyone have any VFT seeds for sale or free? I've so wanted to try my hand at growing them!!
Long story short, ordered online, from China, less than a buck a pack and got taken!! Grumbling Grumbling
Anyhoo, if anyone can point me a good direction, it'd be greatly appreciated!!
I've attached a picture of the fake seeds and address they came from.
Post script....
The packaging the seeds came in and the name, Catcy whatever, wasn't on the ebay site we ordered from. It said all the right things and used the correct vernacular to be convincing.

I don't think I've ever seen seeds for these--always sold as plants here. So sorry to hear your seed order didn't work out--that really is frustrating.

You can buy seeds, you just have to find a reputable seller like flytrapstore, California carnivores, etc. The reason most found are already grown is because it can take years for a VFT to reach full maturity. Smiling

I'm very sorry to hear that. I found this article warning about carnivorous plant seed scams and where to buy legitimate ones. Hope this helps!

They are all fake seeds usually from China or somewhere around that area. If you find carnivorous seeds cheap from an area they originate, there is a good chance they are poachers as you are not allowed to take seeds, cuttings or plants from the wild. Smiling

Hi there! I grow Venus Fly Traps and I have harvested seeds from mine. While the packaging does look shady ... those seeds do look like Venus Fly Trap seeds. (Attached is a photo of some of my seed pods.) PS. I have seeds available for trade - I am wanting to trade for any types of cactus or succulent seeds.

Hi Cheryl. Welcome to NGA!

I'm checking the database entries, but so far, Cheryl / Chaosatlanta is the only person talking about trading carnivorous seeds.

I got as far as cultivar name 'Fondue'.

No, I haven't tried to grow houseplants in years, not even easy ones.

If they aren't outside (or in seedling trays in my bedroom), I lose interest.

Haha I went from 30 acres in Indiana to an apartment in Las Vegas so I have plants outside, windowsills and my closet. Haha. It completely changed my plant interest to CP's and cacti/succulents.
Actually you can grow many of them outside in your climate if they interest you. Lots of CP growers in cali, oregon, and washington. But watch out, if you start they become addictive. Rolling on the floor laughing

I have around five years worth of garden projects that I hope to get to once I retire. I could add CPs to the list!

I was fascinated by VFT when I was a kid, and have SOME faint memory of watching one refuse to close its jaws when something was dropped in. I wonder where I saw that, or whether I dreamed it>?

That's a lot of projects. Haha. What's one more. Rolling on the floor laughing I started with the curiosity of VFT also then discovered all the other types and I was hooked.
It could've been real. Some traps can be stubborn. Haha. Smiling
