I have red flowering Canna but would like some different colors. I have recently seen yellow ones and I think peach ones. Does anyone have any colors other than red that they are willing to share for postage or trade or $. I have to dig mine up and store them over the winter which I do not mind doing. I wouldn't need them until spring or this fall and then I can store them with my others.
Thanks in advance.

@Casshill Hi Doris. Happy Memorial Day to you and all reading this. Yes, I would love to take you up on your offer to send me Canna bulbs for postage. Just let me know what I owe you. I would like a couple of whatever colors you have. I did up Canna, Dahlia, Gladiolus, Elephant Ear, and several others. Thank you so much for getting back to me. You can send me a Tmail with details about cost and where to send it, and I will reply with my address.

All I have establiahed are plain yellow most likely the same as Doris but you are welcome to some for postage if you need more. I started a few from seed this spring hopefully they will bloom next year and I can see what they will look like.
Does anyone have any canna lily seeds of any other color or of mixed colored flowers?

I love canna but don't like the lifting part. Jeanne, how will you store yours. Do you have a greenhouse? Good luck!

My favorite is a dark striped one I found at Lowes this Spring. It has a very pretty orange bloom.

@bluegrassmom could you not put 4 or 5 inches of mulch over your cannas to overwinter them? How deep does your soil freeze in winter?

I'm not sure where you live in KY but the frost line for Fayette County, KY is around 24 inches deep. Sadly it looks like you are stuck having to dig them every year to protect them unless you want to rake big piles of leaves over them at least 18 inches deep in fall.

Thanks, Daniel. I have tried leaving a few of my plain ones out and most didn't make it Angry

If they are close to my brick house, I think it makes a micro climate but that is not where I want them!

I have some cannas come up where I know I did not plant them. They are coming up from seed and it has been happening every year since I have planted them. The really do self seed. Has anyone else experienced this?

Jeanne who knows in about 50 years your seedlings could adapt to create a new cold hardy variety, that would be very cool.

@bluegrassmom Yes, they are the green leaf ones with red flowers. Happy Birthday. Hope you have a great day. I hope you get something new in the plant world. That would be great if I could create a winter hardy Canna Lily. But I really don't mind digging them up in the fall and planting again in the spring.
