Came back from Manchester By The Sea a short time ago.
If you do not leave during the first thirty minutes you can put your feet up on the railing and sleep through the rest while the droll downer music will make you think you are sleeping at a funeral.

The last one half hour is better but that is one of the most boring and predictable movies I have ever seen.
Sharon wanted to see it but any movie with Casey Affleck is a bummer downer city flick.
Beyond that is was OK.

Anyone see the premiere of Emerald City? Definately not Judy Garland's Wizard of Oz! Very dark, violent and rather bizarre;for sure not a show for children. Will keep watching for now to see how it develops.

Started to watch in Netflix last night the series Versailles. Monarchy and its issues..interesting but lots of graphic scenes.

Happy to hear The Crown won Golden Globes Best TV series - drama! I enjoyed that series indeed. Won over my other favorite Game of Thrones.

I haven't watched it yet. I hear it was good, and like you, others said it was dark and 'edgy'. I can't wait to watch it. Probably tomorrow evening.

Fell asleep a bit after watching Sherlock, then woke up to the howling winds outside at around midnight, and checked what is going on in the garden. My hubby still watching tv, and this time he was watching The Magicians. I saw some parts, looks interesting, but will have to go back to beginning..sleepy mode last night Smiling

I watched Tammy last night with Susan Sarandon and Melissa Mcarthy, acting okay but strange story line.

Had some friends over and the subject of movies came up. All time favorite movies. Of course not everyone likes the same things. I sat down this morning to write out the list of my top 10 movies (off the top of my head, so to speak.) OK, my list is 18. In no particular order:
La Strada
Amateur (1994)
Serenity
Welcome to Woop Woop
High Noon
Rio Grande
The Monster (1994)
Rocky Horror Picture Show
Mr. Brooks
My Darling Clementine
To Kill a Mockingbird
It's a Wonderful Life
The Treasure of the Sierra Madre
Heat
Fargo
The Maltese Falcon
The Grapes of Wrath
The Wizard of OZ

How does my list compare to yours? Gene

I will have to think a bit on a movie list. Did anyone else watch the new show Taboo last night, a bit strange will have to see the next couple to see if it stays on the watch list. I also found a channel called Heroes and Icons that shows all the Star Trek series plus Xena and Hercules plus many others , fun to watch the old shows.

Oh no, not Two for the Road. When I was in Viet Nam we got to watch a movie once a week. A treat we really looked forward to. One week it was Two for the Road. A confusing movie, IMO as it jumps around time wise. Next week we could not get a different movie so we got to see it again. After 7 weeks in a row we all had it memorized. I have not watched it since. Gene
