Beginning immediately and ending at noon CT on February 1st, double acorn for adding an event to our Events Calendar.

The details: Adding an event to our calendar will normally net you 5 acorns. For this week only, you will receive 10 acorns per even you list.

The Rules:
-Must be a bona fide event
-You may list a maximum of 25 events
-The events can be anytime in the future
-The event must be gardening related
-Regular monthly meeting are excluded

Scour your local garden club, master gardener, community event calendar, and nurseries and let's fill up our calendar with fun events for our fellow gardeners nation-wide!

Ready, Set, GO!

I assume the 'bonus' acorns will be given at the end of the period? I added two events and got the usual 5 per entry.

Yes, any time we do a bounty for bonus acorns, the bonuses are awarded at the end of the period.

Reading through just a little bit of the events makes me want to visit a lot of other towns and cities. There's really a lot of interesting stuff going on!

That's what I was thinking. Where I live (Savannah, Georgia) it is a big tourist area. How much better would it be if the tourists who are gardeners would be able to plan their trip around a great gardening event.

As for myself, I like to travel to North Carolina and to Tennessee so I'll be watching for events that coincide with my dates. Thumbs up

How do I get a correction on the dates of an event I entered? The closing date automatically added todays date not the date of the event.

Marilyn, I had the same issue. The edit ability is at the bottom of the page for your event. I didn't see it at first and just needed to scroll down. For some reason, my event wasn't showing up on the main event page until after I fixed the end date, so I went directly to it via the url (I followed the link in the message that popped up when I submitted the event).

1. I did not get a message, or at least I don't think I did. just a system message with not links
2. I finally found it but it does not come up when I search by name only when I look at front page.
3. I need to delete it as I see that it has already been entered. Confused
4. I guess the acorns need to be rescinded Crying

On the event that Marilyn is referring to, I think the event showing up twice is because it does not come up on a search by state. Can events be searched by state?
@dave

I have some other events to add, but will wait until I understand how a search for events works.

@dave

Dave do we have the ability to search within a state for events that are listed in our Calendar of Events?

You can't restrict your search by state, but you can search by zipcode or other location and it'll find all the events in a circle around your area.

Thank you Dave. I will give that a try.

Okay, I tried using my zip code. It still does not bring up the Hybridizing clinic. And it brings up events in states that are in the midwest and southern states?

Lynn neither you nor I put a zip code in the postings so am guessing it is un-findable except on front page.
@Dave,
1. How can we modicfy a posting?
2. How do we delete a posting?

On my way Marilyn. I thought I put the zip code in. Thank you so much.
I made the correction/addition of information. It will probably take a bit for it to show up now.

@dave - after reading the above inquiries re searching events, thought I'd give it a try. I think there might be a bug glitch (better word) in the search.

When I entered 'Dallas' in the Search field, at first glance everything was there, including events I added for Ft. Worth. But on closer look I realized that an event was missing - 'Dallas Blooms'.

If I don't do a search but instead just scroll through the list of events, 'Dallas Blooms' is right where it should be, datewise. (Feb. 25th)

I looked at my system messages and saw that about 2 weeks ago I added Dallas Blooms and another event that also takes place at the Dallas Arboretum. So those were both added before the contest. (rats!) BUT the other event shows up in a search AND in a scroll.

Not sure why the difference but thought I'd point it out and see if it does the same for you and if it should. Thanks.

I am having the same problem with the entry 'Fifth Annual Kevin Vaughn Hybridizing Clinic'. It is in the full list but won't come up in a search under Salem or zip code. Yet the entry I made for 'Northwest Garden Nursery Hellebore Open Garden Days' comes up searching by city or zip code (mine or the zip for the event).

Sometimes the system has trouble matching up an address with the actual location (the latitude/longitude coordinates). It's something I'm working to fix.

Thank you Dave. Is there something I can add/change in the information that would help?
