As the semps in this pot grow, this one is a standout and may have gotten placed in with other smaller semps last year before they grew into their new home. It has the beautiful red color on the inner part of the leaf and some webbing (in my opinion) on the tips of the leaves. It's medium sized and could possibly grow larger. I'm hoping to get some offsets from it. I'll include a closeup. I know it's basically a 'noid' but I would still like to find out a bit about it if anyone thinks they recognize it.
I had a story that I just had to share with everyone. Last year before I went all crazy and ordered semps from everyone, I got some semp starters from my mom and my cousins grandma who I've known my entire life. We live in a small town where everyone pretty much knows everybody. Now my cousins grandma "Ms. Henshaw" gave me a few other starters as well to help spruce up my yard. As my collection started to grow last summer, I thought I would return the favor and give a few back to both of them as well. I always get to see my moms progress since I stop by my parents house regularly throughout the week. As far as my cousins grandma, I've always been saying I'm going to stop by and time just never seems to cooperate with me. She was so happy this year because 2 of the semps I gave her made it and started to produce offsets and her daughter was telling me it really made Ms. Henshaw's day. Well, yesterday, I finally made it a point to stop by there and I could've fell over right there in her yard.
One of the semps was obviously "Nocturno" and it had 5 healthy chicks growing off of it.
The same one that I have a very large one of but no offsets. The other one that was growing I wasn't so sure about which one it could be. It really made my day but I also felt really bad because Ms. Henshaw is 89 and wasn't able to come outside and visit. Her daughter pretty much has to help her in and out of bed since she been having increasingly more and more health problems. As her daughter stood in the yard and told me again about how happy her mom was from her new ones having chicks, it just really put a smile on my face. Now that gives me hope that mine will produce some offsets at some point in the future. I'll have to try and get a picture of it. All I have is an old school flip phone which I can't take pictures with. If I had known it was "Nocturno," I would've taken my camera and snapped a few pics. So if anyone has any extra "Nocturno," I would love to purchase some and get more of it planted here at my place since since I only have one. Just send me a tree-mail and I'll take care of payment.
I wasn't about to ask Ms. Henshaw if I could have any of her babies, she might've gotten up out of that bed and came outside and got me good.....
I'm hoping she gets better because I told her daughter I want to bring her a few more starters of some different ones and she said would really like that. I think it'll kind of give her something to look forward to.
