Jo Ann, your semps were protected a little or no protection and left to tuff it out? Some people's semps are out in the open, and some people's are closer to the house or protected in some way. Were Your Perished and survivors all placed in one location?
Majority of my Semps sit in flats on the balcony. Most of my Fuzzy semps that perished had moldy and mushy leaves. They were not subjected to the rain except for occasional watering. Even then, they got leaf rot. Maybe the soil did not drain enough. Maybe the low temps or high humidity or lack of sun/too many overcast days or a combo of any of those added to their demise. Of my fuzzy semps, Downland Queen, Aymon Correvon, Engles, Oley, Titiana, and P. Zoftic, suffered but not enough that I lost all members of each. I had at least one or two survivors of each cultivar. I think I have survivors because I started doing a regular check on the semps to tweeze out the moldy leaves and add crushed rock under the rosettes
The non arach , non fuzzy semps also suffered, but won't list those.
A huge downpour. The rest of this week is going to be pretty busy for me getting ready for the Hardy Plant Society sale on Sat and Sun. It would be so fun to see some
for cobwebs and fuzzy ones, these have done well for me here even with all the rain.
