A thread to post anything pertaining to gardening for the birds.

What about the birds? favorite foods? Zones? Migrations?

Anything regarding gardening for them. Where species are located, where they migrate, what plants nourish and shelter them, and their favorite hang-outs in your garden. And pictures!

I know on DG we had "bug files" - I'm not sure if we will have that available here, or for birds, although it would be great if we could link on-site pictures by our members. I've been doing that with plants to do that with on the BF food thread.

Sharing this photo taken May2011, they go near wherever my feedrs are, make those nectar feeder containers red, big or small, it will be a magnet for them

Ah these little ones are way too busy chasing away their kin from the nectar feeders...though I do find them at times trying to poke the little flowers of my haworthia succulent They live on the tall city trees along our sideyard, so I guess they just do their nectar diving spree in my yard for their food

Waking up today to 29F and saw this little hummingbird having a very early breakfast

All my feeders are starting to get very busy now. Keep the pictures coming, please. Luv them!

This video was taken on Nov 2010, usually hoping to take photos of hummingbirds, instead got a video of this bird hanging around our sideyard..some segments a bit long, this bird just taking its sweet time inspecting the locale

But along that same line of thinking ...... the Leyland Cypress trees are dying & it's spreading rapidly (from disease). Overpopulation or mass popularity aka species overplanting.
