Happy to see that my one Cerinthe has returned...it is not large and vigorous, but if I fertilize it, the deer may be wanting to gobble it...need to get more of that going this year...

I've always had Centranthus in my gardens...the bright pink and the one that's more reddish. After gettting up here, I realized that I'd not brought any seeds of it with me, then I came across ONE plant of it on a coastal bluff and started those. I've not had any before that are rather multi-colored and with bits of white mixed in...

I had not come across that one before either....I went up too Coos Bay last year with a friend to pick up some plants at a small wholesale nursery and spotted that one there....he likes some of the rather harder to find stuff, makes a lot of trips down to SoCal to get things also, used to do business down there

Wish we had a nursery like that close. Plant Depot is the best for the unusual, but it's in south county and with the I 005 under construction down there not really worth the trip. I have more plants in pots that need to go in the ground than I have room for anyway.

LOL! My first visit to Plant Depot was the one off the 15. That was an adventure, the one here in Capistrano not quit as much, and some of the stuff they sell is not zone appropriate for the coastal zones. A year or so ago they had some beautiful Paeonias in 10 gal. pots. I would kill to be able to grow those here, but I won't spend the winter covering them with ice cubes., and I really have to watch out for root bound plants there. Until this year, this has always been a semi annual shopping spree for my cousin and I ...we hit the train depot in San Juan for lunch, and then Plant Depot. We didn't do it this last year due losing Her long time SO who did most of her gardening, and her sister. Plus the water rationing. With the construction project it would take an hour from her house in Mission Viejo to get there. I'll probably make a run down there soon by myself, but not until I get this fence in.
I never knew that there was a Plant Depot by the 15...there's Tropic World and Plant World and I hit both of those often...Plant World when Andy Maycen was there, because he was into salvias and would order them. They had good stuff at their nursery in Vista (Vintage Green..Tom Piergrossi and Andy) salvias ! They're in Hawaii now. I got my first salvias from Dr Don at the first RU that I went to, he had 25 different ones and he asked which ones I wanted and, couldn't help myself, I said all...then I felt bad and said, no, not all and he said if yoou want all, you can have all....LOL..

I never got to meet Dr Don, I'm sorry to say. I joined too late, and the RUs at Menafee were just too far to go at that time. Maybe I am thinking of Plant World...between Escondido and Fallbrook?...it's been a long time.
Yes, between Escondido and Fallbrook....Tropic world was on the northbound side of 15, Plant world on the Southbound...both interesting nurseries..so many good ones down there, so nothing here....

We were away for the few hot days beginning of May, a quick trip to Utah to see a few of the National Parks and the heat made everything really explode into bloom.
