Well today it sure doesn't feel like Spring as the temps went down to 45 last night and the heat came on. Plus today very windy with a nip and a chill in the air. But it will pass and Spring will feel like Spring.
The Azaleas are in full bloom and they look glorious.
Peas are looking great and growing well. Oh and my tomato plants are all planted although they must have been shivering last night.
Wish it would warm up some so I could plant out my pepper seedlings.
Last night another chilly night. Heat in the house has been turned way down but last night was the second night in a row that heat went on overnight. So I know it was plenty chilly.
I am planting out more summer squash plants today. And had to water all the ones I had planted on Sunday. Planning on lots of zucchini and summer squash this year (as usual).
I was digging Dandelions for four hours yesterday and six hours today.
Another four or so hours and I should be done.
Despite putting weed and feed down last fall, I have never in thirty years had this many Dandelions up North.
I have a bunch on the South lawn but where I did not put anything down last fall but fraction compared to what there is up here.
Even during the years we did not put anything down it was never this bad plus I have Chickweed and some sort of spurge all over the boulevard.
Chickweed is not too bad but what ever that item is I think is spurge is all over place, in clusters and there is not reason for it to have spread the way it did.
Well if I were one of those that eats Lambs Quarter, I would be happy.
As it is I have a LOT of it which is odd as before this year it was rare to non-existent but then this year I have weeds going wild.

Definitely not having a problem with the weeds not growing here.... especially after having what seemed like an awfully long stretch of rainy weather and not being able to do much outside!

Big surprise here yesterday! It dropped to near freezing with a rain, sleet, snow and thunder kind of storm with high winds.
Had plants out to harden off, but was not expecting the low temperatures.
Sorry to hear about the sleet/snow, Caroline. I always think of May as a treacherous month, giving us mild temperatures to lure us into buying and planting tender plants, and then surprising us with a late frost. The supermarket and hardware-store garden centers have been selling tropical outdoor plants as fast as they can for several weeks. By selling early they stand to make twice the money, if the first lot of plants get frosted and have to be replaced.
Apart from two days of bizarre 28C/85F heat (followed by a frost 2 nights later), spring here has been mostly cool and wet. More rain is falling today.

We finally hit 70F today -- on our thermometer, at least; not an official temperature.
Felt so good to be able to work outside without a sweatshirt! So much to do after the extended period of rain that we've been having... hard to know where to start.

Caroline, I live four hours' drive northeast of you and we didn't get as bad a temp drop as you did. Last night it dropped to only 8. Calgary sure gets a lot more extreme temp fluctuations than the rest of the province.
We did get a terrible windstorm last night and our neighbour lost two lilac trees, yet our yard was not touched with any damage. Not even the petals on the tulips were blown off! Feeling very thankful today.
By the way, both my kids (and grandkids) live in Calgary! We were just there a few weeks ago.
