Hey, all! I'd love to know your absolute fave(s) in your garden. Bonus if it's not fussy (it's ok if it is, as long as it's WORTH it!) Working on this year/next years list...and can hopefully add to my orders. Smiling

As for my favourite Irises... I'll have to let you know once they've bloomed! I have two NOIDs from my Aunt that have bloomed; other than that, waiting on blooms from plants I've bought from Tempo Two and those that Robin kindly gave me.

Grace, does it have to be one we already grow? Or can it be one we have on order. If the latter, mine is this one:
Tall Bearded Iris (Iris 'Judy Schneider')
It’s okay to not know all the answers.

Welcome! to the iris forum, Grace!

I think we have a couple of threads on favorite irises going already, but not being one to pass on the chance to post a few iris shots, I'll recommend Thornbird (TB spaceager):

Grows well here (you do not quote your plant zone, but that would help make recommendations to suit your particular climate) and blooms every year.

Hi Grace,
That is not easy but here goes....

Devil May Care - love the contrast of the beards against the black

Circus Stripes - love the stripes but the stalks bend and fall over

Dark Passion - beautiful ruffled black (better than the photo)

Honey Dripper - love the colour mix but the blooms are too close together and it is slow to increase for me

My Tasha -
http://www.rainbowridgenursery...
Squid Squirt - I love broken colour irises

Who's Your Daddy - the purple is divine!

Neon Blue - beautiful blue with diamond dusting and lots of blooms per stalk

Narrowing it down to one is an impossibility so I am going to take a different tack. Of the newest that have already bloomed this year for the first time these are my favorites and I am going to cheat and list two.

Fruited Plain

There are two pictures in the database. This one is what my flowers look like, although on the first couple on each stalk the falls were paler. Lovely form. Three open at a time, sturdy stalks. Didn't even lean after all that wind. Second year plant and already have a number of fans,

First year plant of Take Me Home, a bonus last year from Mid-America, Lovely very ruffled grayish lavender, which doesn't sound beautiful but is.

Coffee Trader (Blyth 2006) has put on a truly impressive performance this year
This is its second year. It put up eight stalks, all of which bloomed, plus eight increases. First bloomed on May 1 and is still blooming today (May 20). It is getting some special treatment, being in a raised bed with drip irrigation, but it is worth it.

Thank you kindly! Smiling Can't wait to see everyone's blooms! Perhaps you'll come back to the thread after and say "this one is GOLD"... Smiling

I will not be without this iris in my garden.
Expose has not increased as much as other Iris but I still love it.

I would have to say Dusky Challenger because the blooms are huge and they stay nice way longer than other irises.

I have 3 absolute favorites. The rest I love dearly but these 3 take my breath away.

Thornbird. When I first saw pictures of it, I knew I had to have it. It's even better up close and personal. It's my avatar.

Then there is Solar Fire. All I can say is...oh my!

Finally, Secret Service. The rich, deep falls are so lovely.
