This is a LOCAL group buy, hopefully with pick-up at the Mid-Atlantic Fall Swap, but please note it is possible that bulbs may not arrive in time for the swap. So if you wouldn't be able to drop by Rick's or my place another time, don't order this year!

Rick is co-hosting, so bulbs will ship to him, and he will help me keep things organized. As many of you know, I've got a lot on my plate trying to get my in-laws settled in up here after a fast move from NC. That's why I'm late getting this going... however, I'm hopeful that we'll still get free shipping from ADR as we have in the past.

Ordering starts now and is open until July 31. Invoices will go out next month, and $ is due via PayPal before August 31 or by check the last week in August. Those who have ordered in the local group buys I've organized in the past may pay by cash or check when they pick up their bulbs. I know that "life happens," so anything comes up between your order and your payment, the most important thing is to keep me in the loop. We can usually juggle things to keep the group buy running smoothly -- but I can't adjust for circumstances if I don't know about them.

We may add some bulbs to this buy from Ednie, Brent & Becky's, ect., as we go along. If you spot a good sale, let us know! The amaryllises WILL NOT SHIP UNTIL OCTOBER, so we will need to do another "pick up party" when they come in (they could probably be held in my basement until as late as the mid-winter seed swap).

See https://www.adrbulbs.com/index...

You won't be able to see prices. I can see prices when I sign in, and so can Rick. We will initially add 10% to your total to cover unsold bulbs (so we can order a box of 100 even if we've only pre-sold 90)... this is usually reduced to a couple of percent at the end to cover repacking materials. I don't make a profit from group buys.

We've had excellent bulbs at fantastic (wholesale) prices from them in the past. As always, by participating in the group buy you agree to share the risk -- I'm not a retailer, and if I pay for bulbs we don't receive or that are no good, I can't absorb the loss. If I have to pay, so do you. That said, we've never had an issue with our local group buys.

One thing we noticed last fall is that in the smaller pre-packed retail boxes from Holland, they seemed to be counting some half-sized bulbs in the total, ones that probably came from double-nosed bulbs that split during the packing process. Their wholesale prices are low enough that I don't think this is a deal breaker, but don't order if you will be upset that a couple of your bulbs are smaller than they should be.
I'll keep a running list in the next post of varieties that MIGHT be included if there's enough interest. I'll add a variety to the list if a couple of people would like it, or if one person wants to get at least half the box/bag.

Wholesale prices mean we have to purchase in wholesale quantities! We usually have to juggle numbers at the end to come out right, so please let me know if there's a range that would work for you, eg "I would like 15-25 Red Moon Monkeybulbs." or "I'd like 25 Galloping Golden Gladiolus but could take as many as 75 -- I really want these!"

Ordering in multiples of 5 makes the counting and repackaging easier, so let's do that. Amaryllises come in bags of 10, so they can be ordered individually (same with some other bulbs, like the giant alliums).

Please post orders IN THIS THREAD, not in a tree-mail or in another discussion thread. Make changes and additions IN A NEW POST, not by editing your post.

Let the games begin!

I'm going to start by listing what I've already added to the shopping cart...

Daffodils (most priced between 25 and 50 cents per large bulb!)

'Ice Follies' (12/14 cm) 75 for $22.50, 5 for $1.50
my MIL's favorite, opens yellow and ages to a clean white. Early-mid spring.

'Cassatta' (12/14 cm) 75 for $33.00, 5 for $2.20
fragrant butterfly daffodil with a huge pale yellow corona, white petals

'Prom Dance' (12/14 cm) 75 for $27.75, 5 for $1.85
delicate lemon yellow and white bicolor, really charming

AMARYLLIS (Israeli are $4.75, Peruvian are $5, Dutch are $6.50-8)

'Gervase'

'Blossom Peacock'

'Fantasy'

I want up to a full box each of N. 'Ice Follies', N. 'Cassatta'. and N. 'Prom Dress' for my DMIL.

And let's see if we can get 'Gervase' and 'Blossom Peacock', two outstanding amaryllises that have been unavailable in recent years. I'd take 2 or 3 of both those varieties.

Rick wants Amaryllis 'Fantasy' (the cream/yellow one with the greenish throat, not the striped red/pink/white one with the same name). I'll take 1-3.

I think Muscari paradoxum would go nicely with the white/yellow daffs I've picked for Mom & Dad's foundation, so I'm adding those.

On the ones I've mentioned, I'll take a whole box and maybe a few more if it looks like we can get to the next quantity... the price break may not be that significant (at least on the ones I've checked), but we do seem to get bigger bulbs in the bags (no counting of little split-off bulbs towards the total).

I did mention the bulb count issue to Walter, and it sounds like he doesn't have much control over the way they pack the boxes in Holland... he does things differently with the bulk bags, I guess. He said he'd check the boxes we got this fall and make sure the counts were good, but that's a lot to ask. If the retail boxes are short again, we'll divvy up the undersized bulbs, and I'll ask him for a credit.I know I sound like I'm obsession about this, but i wanted people to realize I was aware of the issue last year and am figuring out how to address it.

Thanks, Rick! Is your spreadsheet setup working for you, or do you want me to email the one I used last year? (I meant to do that but ended up at the wrong computer)

I'm also interested in some of the jumbo amaryllis bulbs from Peru, especially Olaf or Denver or Rosita (because we had MInerva last year and Bolero pretty recently also), but pretty much any of them except Sovereign (I just like Olaf better). I use them as holiday gifts for teachers, neighbors, etc.

Let's start spreading the word around the MAG forum.

Is anybody interested in miniature daffodils? I'm leaning toward 'Sun Disc' but could be talked into just about any of them -- cutie pies!

For sure the larger Peruvian bulbs -- jumbo bulbs for $5... that's just an amazing deal.

Check your spreadsheet on the 'Fantasy' bulbs -- I think they are 10 to a bag. I'll take 2, and 1 would be OK.

On the Muscari paradoxum, I'd like the box of 150, please.

Thanks!

Oops! Yes, they're 10, not 8.

Got you down for the 150 muscari and 2 fantasy

Just as a note... I'll share up to half the box of any of the muscari or daffs I'm down for... or I'll take the whole box if nobody else wants any. Actually, on the Ice Follies I think I do want the whole box. They're Mom's all time favorite.

Rick, you mentioned wanting a really good white... what about 'Misty Glen'? That's one @aspenhill might be interested in also... ?

N. 'Misty Glen' (size 12/14) 75 for $32.25, or 5 for $2.15

(These bulbs run about a dollar each on other sites)

Of course there's always Thalia... $15 for 50.

If anybody sees the "other" 'Fantasy anywhere -- the red/white/pink striped one -- LMK... or grab it for me if under $25 for regular size or under $45 for jumbo. It's 2 steps beyond stunning!

Rick, please add Allium Azureum to the spreadsheet, 10 packs of 25 bulbs each (size 5) for $45.50.

Azureum is one of the truest blues in the garden, and it pops open in earliest summer, between the last of the tulips and the first of the bearded iris, when not much else is in bloom (at least not in my garden).

I'm going to put some allium bulbs around my MIL's roses and hostas, so protect them from rabbits and other varmints. I put some around my shrub roses a few years ago, and I think it helps keep them from being damaged when they first leaf out.

I'd rather get the box of 10 packs rather than the box of 150 smaller bulbs. Does anybody else want some? The packs also make it easy to distribute the bulbs around the garden. I do want at least 100 (4 packs) and will take more as needed.

Thanks!

Yippee! Many thanks Rick and Jill for organizing this bulb buy.
Here's my list so far:
1528 Galanthus
Unit 128 Springtime tulip mix
2630 Tulip sweet pink mix
2005 muscari
1320 calla aethiopica
1137 anemone coronaria De Caen single mix
1200 ipheion Rolf Fiedler
1814 Leucojum Gravity Giant
Unit 417 Narcissi small-cupped
The muscari are armeniacum but somehow auto-correct kept changing that.
I'd also like to try some Allium Azureum. Say 25-50 bulbs.
Will get to Amaryllis bulbs later this afternoon.
Thanks very much.

As far as Amaryllis are concerned, I'd like a total of 6 bulbs: 2 Peruvian and 4 Dutch. Specifically, I'd like Denver and Barbados Peruvian bulbs. Dutch bulbs are Gervase, Fantasy, Flamenco Queen and Charisma. Will be happy to order more bulbs to round out the order.
Thanks.

Lisa,
Do you want a full box of each of these? If not, how many?

Oops, guess I wasn't clear. I'd like 1 Gervase bulb, not 10 bags of bulbs. Same with other Amaryllis. I figure my Amaryllis order should total $43.50.
With the other group of bulbs, I'd like a big lot. For example, Ipheion, item 1200, I do want 150 bulbs.
