Beautiful hosta, Ann. I'm thinking of creating a shade garden here in NM. I will try hosta. We have plenty of cold and shade so I hope it will thrive.

That is indeed a pretty hosta at this time of year, but not THIS year. It's an old picture. It's under my Linden tree and this year Linden trees are giving off sticky stuff that is coating everything underneath them making them look sooty and sticky and attracting all sorts of wasps. But that one is called 'Marilyn Monroe' because of the ruffled leaves which are white on the underside. A bit of wind and they look like that picture of MM with her skirts blowing.

BTW, I did aquafit this morning and walked about 5 km yesterday.

Also got all my trip pictures up on SmugMug. If you prefer to look at pictures on a site like that rather than Facebook, you'll find them at: https://violaann.smugmug.com/T...

We returned home last night after a week of travel. We went to Pittsburgh for 3 days to visit family, then to Niagara on the Lake for four days. What a beautiful place! I'll post a few pictures of the beautiful flowers there after I get around to downloading them.

I hurt my toe the first day (it's black as coal!) so wasn't able to exercise much. It's pretty painful. It was all I could handle to walk and sightseeing, there were no gyms for me all week. And we were eating restaurant food, pretty unhealthy overall.

We did a winery tour one day which was lots of fun. We also went to the falls one afternoon. The drive back yesterday was a long one- just under 500 miles. Now, so much laundry and grocery shopping and work to do to recover, I always question why I do this. D'Oh!

Rolling on the floor laughing That's funny Karen.Sounds like you had a fun trip except for the toe, hope it heals quickly. Did you mean a "winery tour" and not a "wintery tour"??

I did a fair amount of walking yesterday, I went to see the Dr at noon for my meds and to get the report on my cancer surgery and happy that there were no cancer cells left in the margins, so hopefully I will not get any new growth in the area.

After lunch we went to the Desert Hills Ranch, that was the area that had the huge fire this summer that caused most of the awful smoke in my area, thankfully the 2 small towns in the area, and the ranch buildings were all saved, but a lot of the hills and mountains are all black. We got fresh corn, potatoes, tomatoes, beets, peppers, cabbage, nectarines, apples. so many veggies to chose from but I figured that was enough for today as I only have so much space and just the 2 of us. Love to see the jumping goats they have there and now they added a pot bellied pig in with the goats.

Yes, Margaret, a winery tour!

I'm glad you got good news on your surgery results.

I'm exhausted.

Got in several hours in the garden today and got several beds cleaned up. Still lots to do though. Handbells play tomorrow and we'll have lunch with grandtwins (age 15). Have an orchestra rehearsal in the evening, but I sprained my right thumb back in July. It was doing OK until rehearsal a couple of weeks ago, but bothers me now - hard to hold my bow.

Ditto. It's amazing how just one finger or toe can set you back on exercise and drive you nuts. Smiling

I have so much yard clean up to do. Flowers are out there throwing off seeds like crazy. I really need to cut things back and do fall cleanup but it's just too hot (around 90° for the next 4 days).

I worked in the yard doing fall cleanup (cutting plants back and weeding and watering) for almost 2 hours. I just had to stop because it's so hot. No more outside work for me today.

Karen, I really need to get out and cleanup my flowers too, going to have a lot of volunteers next year. I haven't been able to do it because of heat and then cold and windy, today is overcast and drizzling, which I won't complain about because we need the moisture.

Yesterday I decided to deep clean the guest room, organize the stuff in the closet, had to make room for extra bedding from the trailer, it will be used when we rent a cabin next summer. I moved some of the furniture and vacuumed behind it, gave everything a good dusting. My son and his wife are coming for Thanksgiving next month. Smiling

I have been doing the usual for exercise these days. I do some work out in the garden and I take my dog for exercise walks. Same thing yesterday and the day before and today. It is my regular routine.

Today I also did laundry. That counts as extra exercise as I hang all my stuff outside on the clothesline. I like my clothes to dry outside whenever possible. nodding

We've lived in this house for 34 years, and accumulated just so much stuff. I keep donating, but the STUFF keeps increasing Confused I've never sold anything. I just give stuff away.

16 years here and we brought stuff here from our last house, time to get rid of it.
