Starting now, ending November 30, we have an acorn bounty on all pictures uploaded to the Plants Database in the gallery "Fall Color". As an added element of fun, all of the photos in the Fall Color gallery will be shown on the homepage (where the inspirations usually are).

You will receive your usual acorn when you post the photo, and on December 1st, Dave will award the extra acorn for everyone who participated. Have fun, and enjoy the fall colors on the homepage! I tip my hat to you.

Great idea! I miss the Fall leaf colors living here in central Fl, as it was my favorite time when I lived in Va. I will award 50 acorns to my personal favorite.

I also miss Fall colors now, but do have photos from the past that have nice fall color. I must be missing something, but where do we go to enter in the fall color photos?

In the database, just like any other plant, only you choose "fall color" as the gallery (instead of one of the other options like "full plant", "leaves", etc)

With a plant, I normally start at the particular plant and add my photo. Can I start at a fall color gallery? Where is it?

I just did it! You have to go to a specific plant and upload a picture like normal. But instead of choosing say bloom or entire plant, scroll down and choose Fall Color.

Ok, I did it, but sometimes I have fall color photos where I have no idea of the species yet it is a great photo.

Fall color? I have but a vague memory of something like that. Sticking tongue out Looking forward to the pictures to refresh my memory!

Hmm. Got a persimmon or Pistache chineses? Those are the only Fall Color I can think of in the SW, unless Mums count. Hilarious!

Same here! We don't often see pretty autumn colors here in this part of Florida but I've taken photos when on vacation and have no idea what trees/plants they are and no close up of leaves or bark, etc. to try to identify them. Sighing!

Fall color here would be the Camellia Sasanquas. Smiling

I always find it amazing that the aloes can go from that color to green again. They are remarkable plants.

@Trish, can we do this with landscape photos too? I have a gorgeous fall landscape photo that I would love to include. Is there the ability to include it in the Fall Color category?

Sorry Joanna, the Landscape pics don't have galleries like the plant photos, so they are not included in this event.

No fall colors, at least not yet. Could I post a picture of acorns? Got a lot of them.

Does the age of the picture matter? I might have some that would qualify as ancient history now.
