I was looking at the rotating Christmas tree holder and wondering if I should buy one. Any one have one?

I have ornamotion to turn my ornaments on the tree. My tree is all Crystal ornaments and blue lights. It might make me dizzy with the tree turning and the ornaments turning? What do you think? .

I think we'll need pics of whatever you do. It sounds like it will be fabulous! I've heard of tree holders that will revolve the whole tree, but didn't know you could do that with the ornaments.

Sounds good, Philip. What is Christmas beef jerky like? What spicing do you use? I make a lot of different types of jerky but haven't heard of any for Christmas.

It's no different from the idea of sausages & cheese as gifts. It's "Christmas" jerky only in the intended sense... Gifts & parties... maybe a card & giftwrapping. it's always a hit, because less people do it and it's a welcome sight at parties.

I use a puree of garlic, onions, soy sauce, worcestershire, black pepper, red wine... 18 hour+ marination, then dry smoked over hickory or mesquite for another 12-18 hours. I might even pound the jerky a bit, to create different styles of crumbly vs. chewy. You can use orange juice or apple juice as sweeteners. Herbs vary each year, but I usually go with ground fennel as I have a lot of it right now.

Yum! Your seasoning sounds very good, Philip. I just use a dehydrator but I bet smoking over a fire would make it taste much better.

I have had the ornamations for over 20 yrs. It was the new thing back in the day. I think Amazon still sell them. They are little motors that you remove the light on your light string and insert the motor and you can hang a ornament. I started collecting crystal ornaments. When everyone discovered I collect crystal ornaments it became my Christmas gift from everyone.,

My ex-boss would give me some pretty expensive ornaments. He was my boss for 25 yrs. My total tree ornaments are probably worth over a couple thousand dollars now. He gave me Swarovski, and Waterford crystals. They are pretty but I have some that I would buy at the end of season from department stores that look just as pretty on the ornamotions.

No they sell tree stands that rotates your tree. The stand does not move. I had to go artificial years ago because my daughter is allergic to the pine trees indoors and triggered her asthma attack. We were in the hospital when she was young every Christmas eve and finally figured out she was allergic.

Ah, good that she can now enjoy the artificial ones, and it sounds like your trees are super special. Take some photos for us this year, Please? I love seeing photos of Christmas decorations.

It does not photograph good because of the crystals. I do close up pics of the ornaments. But I get rave reviews when seen in person.

I tell everyone you will probably be able to buy the ornaments on ebay when I die. My daughter loves it but she says it takes too much time. She loves bringing her friends over to look at it. We put on music and decorate it together but I know she will not do all this when I am gone.

Your daughter sounds like our daughters. I'm sure our big ornament collection will also be sold. I've gathered them since before we got married, and add to them every year.
Have you tried taking a photo of the crystal tree when it's not turning, and from a distance? It does take some doing to photograph sparkly things.

I have not purchased the turning tree stand. I just have the ornaments turning now.

I have tried with the lights out with flash without flash. I have an expensive SLR professional camera I got with my Marriott points thinking that would do the job but it still does not show up like in person because crystals are clear. Trees look good in a picture when there is a lot of colored bulbs and ribbons.

You could post a photo of what you're trying to do in the photography forum. I bet the people there could give you some tips to make better pictures. I know it's tough. Sometimes I make my mosaics with lots of mirroring and sparkly beads, and have a heck of a time trying to photograph it like it looks.

I know retailers decorate way too early to start capitalizing on Christmas, but I hate being reminded that early way in advance that I'm another year older. I thought Christmas was supposed to be happy then am reminded of that big birthday rapidly approaching.

Until Thanksgiving is really in my rear view mirror, I won't even think about any other holiday.

I'm the same way. I need to have Thanksgiving first, and then think about Christmas. I can't stand the way they rush the seasons now. One year I went in early December to try to get some Christmas ornaments at a hobby store, and they were sold out already, and the store was doing Valentines Day and St Patrick's already.

I'm the same way! Mine is fast approaching and I don't know where this year went. Heck, I was looking for a photo the other day in my photo gallery online and realized something I did and it was 2015. I swear it felt like just this year. I don't know whether it goes faster as I age or if the "Christmas in July" hastens the feeling because the stores rush through one holiday/occasion after the next.
