I've just received several thumbs-up notices, but the photos and posts don't show that any thumbs have been awarded. It's not just my items. I'm looking at gardening ideas that had lots of thumbs listed in the past and now have nothing.

Can you point me to a post or photo for which you received the system message but the numbers don't appear?

Here's one: Baja_Costero gave you a thumbs-up for post #1601567 in "Does this need updating on name?" by zuzu. (dated 42 minutes ago)

Can you see any numbers next to the thumb?

https://garden.org/thread/view...

Here's a whole page of rose photos with no numbers next to the thumbs. I know most of these photos have been given a thumbs-up because the icon color indicates that I gave them a thumbs-up.

The acorn numbers are also gone. Go to any item shown in the "Recently tipped" section. Nothing that has been tipped has any acorn numbers.

Get outta town! How is that possible? What kind of glitch would make the numbers invisible on my computer?

I rebooted and I still don't see any numbers there. I see numbers everywhere else (in the comments, in the data fields for plant entries, etc.), so it's not just a loss of numbers per se.

No issues with the thumb count here either. How very strange!

Okay, I just fired up the laptop and I can see the numbers just fine there, but they aren't visible here on my PC. I wonder if it could be related to yesterday's Firefox update. My laptop isn't updated automatically. I know it's not a case of numbers in parentheses being obliterated because I can see the post sequence numbers and they're in parentheses.

Hmm. What version are you running, Zuzu? Mine is 57.0.2 with no updates available at the moment.

Have you tried clearing the cache?

Mine's 57.0.2, but Firefox did a short upload yesterday for no apparent reason, and the troubleshooter says my Firefox crashed three times in the last 24 hours. That's news to me.

I still have a number of things I can try. I disabled Blur yesterday because it was slowing down my work on the database. The Blur script was delaying the loading of pages. It could also be an Ad Block peculiarity. It inexplicably blocks one picture of me on one of my son's web pages. The picture was part of a photo shoot years ago for a face cream ad, but it wasn't even the final photo chosen for the ad and there's no advertising anywhere on the photo. How does it know?

It will be the site that is hosting the image, I suspect.

It could be one of your add-ons causing grief as well. I don't use Ad Block, but I do use Privacy Badger, which has the benefit of only blocking ads that involve tracking.

I cleared the cache, no numbers.

I activated Blur, no numbers.

I disabled Ad Block on this site, numbers galore. All of them came back as soon as I disabled Ad Block. It's something new because I've always had Ad Block and I've always seen the numbers until today.

That's probably now a question for @dave, as I'm not sure what mechanism he's using for the numbers. Clearly it's upsetting the Ad Block extension, though.

That's weird, Zuzu -- I have AdBlock running and no problem with the numbers.

Don't even get me started on updates, though -- the most recent Win10 update has my laptop really messed up Grumbling
