Valentine's Day 2018

Since I don't own a television I normally do not keep up with the news.

Today I was at the laundromat. They have a television. That's the only way I knew there was a high school shooting in progress in South Florida.

I will not go into detail as this is not the place for a discussion of that nature, but I am sad for the families who lost their children today; sad for the students, teachers, and faculty some of whom were injured and will remember this day forever; and sad for the parents of the shooter.

A very sad situation all around

Very sad indeed, so many young lives lost, so many lives changed forever.

The infant grandchild of my friend Saul died suddenly. Second time this has happened to one of his grandchildren in about five years. He's already very depressed due to the problems his only son has with alcohol. I'm very worried about the possibility of losing him.

Difficult times.

Katie, how horribly sad that happened. I have no words I can think of , so I say a prayer for the baby and your friend.

Two friends from hs..ON SAME day carried husbands to ER. Sick..sick.. docs had been treating for flu..no improvement.. fear for septiis.. well one had a lung full of pus and behind it a cancer. And in ribs and spine too😞. All he had was a slight coughnfor about twomyears...BUT was being followed by a doctor and had clear chest xrays when the cough started. Last I heard, the other was being worked up with fear for same outcome. My dear friend here in NC just rushed to Illinois - last month..her 80 something dad began complaining of pain in arm and scapula (shoulder blade) .. no remedy pain worsening.. went to PT..saw doctor. Pain got so bad he could not tolerate and he was found to have lung cancer with metastatic to bone (hence the pain) ..disease in hips and legs too.. Just terrible news. All strong in their faith and know the Lord walks with them and are dealing well. I sure hope my friemd in Florida's husband's tests show nothing. He needs prayers

@MISSINGROSIE So sorry to hear about your friends. Grandson's MIL just passed away. Cancer. Misdiagnosed as gallbladder. Grandson's Dad passed away last year. Those kids have had a lot on their plate the last two years.

Jean don't you just hate it when you can't help in these situations

Son called this morning. His mother-in-law in Illinois is in the hospital -- stroke. Daughter-in-law flew from GA yesterday to be with her. Although her brother lives next door to his mother, it is always DIL who has to take charge and be the caretaker.

Jean, I am sorry to hear about your son's mother in law, hope everything goes well with a good recovery.
