I was looking at previous threads in this section, and there are some beautiful garden rooms and beautiful make-overs into garden rooms. I've always liked the idea of a garden room, so this Spring I took a piece of bland backyard and made one for wild flowers.

This is how it looked last year when I decided I needed to put something in this area.



Very unsatisfied with that, I went to work this Spring.




















It did get a little overgrown...but, it was my first try with a garden room

Things really grow well for you, Jim! Very nice! Where I am it's tough to get the lush green look.

Karen, It doesn't always look this green and lush. We had an unusually wet Spring and early Summer. There were areas of my lawn that usually burn in early Summer that stayed green all Summer this past season.

Ok, well it's nice when the weather lets it happen! It was gorgeous! I love greenery and plenty of water features.

Thank you @vma4922. I was hesitant to make this post because I was not sure my garden room was worthy of this thread, but the feedback I have received tells me you folks like it. THANK YOU! I really like "garden rooms" and want to make another one this coming Spring.

Thanks, @Christine. That's why I take pictures of any project I do; I like to be able to look back to what it was and has become. There is a real satisfaction in that.

Jim - THAT garden room is gorgeous! Wow! What a great area. You need to add some seating in there. Love what you did! Thanks for sharing photos of it during the process and once established.

Thanks @beckygardener. I actually did plan some seating (in the last picture, you can see a bench on the far left facing the garden), but I planted too many flowers. I had no room for the bench. This year I'll plan more appropriately.

How do you get people to leave. I think you would have a hard getting me out of that beautiful space.

I bought MOVAVI, a video software package for my business this week. Very reasonably priced. I also thought it would be an easy way to share my projects with family and friends. No more attaching tons of pics to emails or using drop box or some other storage space. Now, I can just point them to my YouTube Channel. Here is the Garden Room on video. You are fortunate to have what appears to be good soil and a flat piece of land to create your lush garden.

Actually the area where the garden room was built used to be a slope down into the field behind it. I had 25 truck loads of fill brought in to extend and level the immediate backyard area and then covered it with clean top soil.

Wow. I was just talking about how I wanted to get into the yard and off the deck. That is perfect! I am so inspired. Now just to get it past hubby. It's beautiful. Good work!

Jim, it's beautiful! I am so tempted to try this. Although I'm in the city, I do have a large backyard. Just don't think hubby will be keen on it. Wish I married a gardener! Hubby prefers to mow in squares without any impediments.
