I hope everyone is dormant and doing well, in these chilly months. I haven't seen a new thread started, so welcome to Plumeria 2018!

We came from here: The thread "Plumeria 2017" in Plumeria forum

Thanks, James. Yes, dormant time, but hopefully it won't be too long before we're sharing bloom pics again.

My Scott Pratt pushed out the very tip of an inflo before finishing it's drift off to sleep. I can't wait for Spring for it to wake up and show me its beautiful red blooms.

I accidentally left my seedlings out on the patio during a cold snap and they were out there in the north wind for a couple of hours below 40. It has been about a 2 weeks since then and they all seem to be doing okay. No blackening or severe drying. They are inside permanently now, so that I don't forget about them again. Hopefully they all wake up in spring Crossing Fingers!

They're probably safe, James, if they aren't showing any damage right now. I accidentally left some of mine outside in Arizona when the weather dipped below 40 and they made it just fine.

Good news. I watched them pretty closely for a few days. The temp wasn't below freezing at the time, but the windchill was at about 33/32 and it was damp. I wasn't even intending on letting them go fully dormant, but they definitely are now Hilarious!

I was just out in the greenhouse. My plumeria is starting to push leaves again, so it thinks dormancy is over. It was 21 last night, but the GH only hit 55.6.

Lows above 50 will definitely do the trick. I left mine out and let them get nice and dormant. I have them in the spare room upstairs now, with very low light and no water. They're just sleeping away.

It would be nice to have that temp, even for a short while! We're 40's most days now and bad wind which makes it worse.

I had to snip a couple of my stem tips due to rot.I snipped them back about and inch or two.them sealed them with candle wax as best I could.I hope I didn't lose my.plant.Ive been growing this plant for eight years from six inch stem.ive only got three tips had four one snapped off in the hurricane last year so I stuck it in a pot and it's rooted.so keeping my fingers crossed.but I'm worried about if I did the right thing or not it was oozing brown stuff and mushy.plzzz tell me it will be okay the rest of the plant is nice and firm and green underneath.I did a scratch test. This is my baby.Ive nursed this plant and basically watched it grow over all these years. It had it's first inflo bloom this past year soooooooooooo Beautiful yellow flowers or white with yellow.the fragrance is so strong and beautiful.like vanilla.I didn't touch that stem.it seems okay.a little soft but not as bad as the other two I snipped.well.its was three tips on one branch.and one on another that I snipped.Praying really hard.no blooms yet.How long before I see any growth on my plant now that I've pruned it?Thank you from florida.im a newbe to these plants.help this is my baby last year.it lost everything this past winter.this is my baby now😢😢😢😢

Welcome! Snogirl10

You will start to see new growth as soon as dormancy breaks which should be in a month or so. Blooms will not happen on the cut tips until next year though!

That is nice! Still too cold here on my side, but they are doing rather well outdoors in their containers this year in spite of our cold/wet conditions.

@dutchlady1 Is there a way to merge this thread with the new one you created? Maybe just delete this one since you created another 2018 thread? Would hate to lose these pictures though.

My first post~~~ I live in Reno...not exactly Plumeria growing territory~~~I have a potted Plumeria in my south facing kitchen next to the sliding glass door. I am worried~~~ It keeps producing leaves and they are turning yellow and falling off before they exceed 1 inch long. The larger leaves are curling and turning brown on the edges and dropping. I really don't want to lose this plant. It has great sentimental value. The spot where it sits is where our 30 yr old daughter lost her battle with asthma. She was born in Hawaii and loved Plumerias. I got some cuttings from a friend in Southern Calif and I rooted them and they WERE doing pretty good. this year...not so much. There is a lot of activity at the top of the stalks but new leaves are not making it~ It has flowered for the last two years...not a lot of flowers but there were flowers!!! ANY help would be greatly appreciated!!!
