Not semps but thought you might like to see some of the gardens at the NW Flower Show, went with Patty, we had a blast!

Not bad, some cool things from keeping it green nursery!
Trillium grandiflorum
Pteridophyllum racemosum
Ajuga Invisalign
Calanthe 2 different ones.
Sadly every year less and less plants for sale at the show. I think even fewer garden displays, just get too expensive. Fun day for a kick off to Spring. We worked 4 hours at the iris society so not all play. Great day with Patty.

Julia, did you get those photos before the crowds arrived? The one time I attended the show it was so crowded I couldn't get near most of the exhibits. Didn't help that I am short... I did get a few photos by holding my camera high and hoping things were framed.

As for a continuing reduction of vendors, I expect many of these are small companies with aging owners. I know of one (B&D Lilies) that have decided to quit the show. They have done it for thirty some years and are regrouping to focus on selling their product through their website and catalog. They are probably not the only ones.

Neat that you assisted the iris society (Region 13?) and also got some good photos! I used to belong to Region 13 when I was more into irises. Still have a few of my seedlings.

Yes! Fun times at the NW Show - great for bringing in spring fever - especially since it still appears to be winter here Sad

Connie - we are in King Co. Iris club, still part of Region 13, and a nice group! Thumbs up

Here's Julia in an area with fun vintage stuff

Ah, you refreshed my memory, Patty. The clubs are part of Region 13, I was trying to recall the name of the club up there. I belonged to Oregon Trail Iris Club for many years (meet in Salem).

Love the vintage stuff. I'm sure I could use some similar items for semp projects (trying to stay on topic here Rolling on the floor laughing ).

We went on Wednesday and do the show backwards I guess by most people. Start in the sale areas then hit the display gardens late in the afternoon. No crowds!
I did see a few semps and sedum in the gardens but I get so involved looking forget to take pictures.

LOL, no problem Mark! Sounds like you're pretty busy these days.

Nice pictures from the flower show Julia. I can't believe there were so few people there while you were taking pictures. You did a good job of controlling yourself with purchases! Whistling

Great photos Julia and Patty. And what a great way to start the gardening year.

Julia you Pteridophyllum racemosum is fascinating. I have not seen that plant before. At first I thought it was a fern, until I saw the blooms.

Pteridophyllum racemosum looks very interesting. Perhaps a candidate for a table garden since it appears to be a low grower.

Pteridophyllum racemosum is a fascinating plant, a "woodland poppy", according to Far Reaches Farm it's hardy to Zone 5, but I hear it's difficult to keep in New England or places with high summer heat, it likes moist shaded conditions, would probably die quickly in my hot somewhat exposed garden. I'm tempted to order one, but at $25 each I'll spend my dollars elsewhere on something more reliably growable.

Well, okaaay! I changed my mind on that one. Our summers seem to be getting hotter (and longer) and no natural moisture during summer. Sounds like a plant I would have to babysit Thumbs down .

Julia, keep us posted on how it does for you.

I might give it a try on the north side of my house, where the hostas do very well.

I am miles away from the Flower Show and by chance only found out my son was nominated for some design award. Still trying to get to the gist of it, but he now works for Avid Landscape and his design was something like 'Apple of my Eye' - I think based on the Apple Cup (he would be a Coug). Hopefully when we get home I'll get the scoop from him. Ring any bells for those who attended? I had to actually do an internet search under his name, he's not big on tooting his own horn.
I want to live in a world where the chicken can cross the road without its motives being questioned.

I didn't get a picture of that one. Took these just before going home for the day.
