My name is Anthony, I am a ceramic artist. I make unique affordable planters.

All my pieces are handmade. Made from high quality materials. I use mostly porcelain. All the prices are glazed, will provide decades of use.

My membership to the forum is too new, I can't link my Etsy shop here. If you send me a message I'll send you a link. You can also do a search for PotteryDowntoEarth on Etsy, I'm the with all the unique planters!!

5 1/2" x 3 3/4" x 2 1/2" That is measured from the outside. You can take a little more the 1/4" for the inside dimensions. All the pots are wired with drainage screens. I have the avl with trays fused or separated.

Beautiful pottery, Anthony. I'm glad you posted. You could also come join us on the Garden Art forum and show your pots. We hold down the commercialism there, but love to see any garden art, and your pots qualify.

Glad to know of your shop!

It can be hard to find truly wonderful containers for bonsai or other lovelies like trailing african violets. Larger shallow containers seem especially hard to find, and they are great for little semps and other mini rock garden plants.

Do you know if your containers are frost-proof? That's even harder to find...

Good question, Jill. I was also wondering.
Do you pour your own molds, Anthony, or buy the greenware and then glaze and fire?

Thank you!! I enjoy the making process so much. Lol! I would not let anyone else do any step if I can help it!

I make all the pieces from handmade molds. I mostly use porcelain, from either Pennsylvania or George. Soon I am going to cast some finer pieces in English porcelain. I get the clay in dry form. I mix my own slip, what a learning process that was!! Cast my own plaster mold. I mostly slip cast. I do not use low fire, it seems too weak for my taste. I use only mid-fire(cone 6) for my pieces.

The last two photos in my last post are my newest are my newest sizes. Those I do a process called "press in". I take wet clay and, lol, press it in the mold!!

On my listings I state that "this, like any ceramic, will crack it frozen". The porcelain that I use has a water absorption rate of 1.7% when it's fully fired. Usually anything over 1% is bad and susceptible to breaking when frozen. Now, after all that being said, I have had many, many outside for years. None have broken yet, so I don't know! I live in Annapolis MD, zone 7a. We get snow and plenty ice here.

I have broken them in the freezer.

Let me know if that answers your questions!

I am currently in the process of making round herb pots.

Or are you asking about dishes? I do have a few cups currently. There's a tall and short tumbler, round wine tumbler and coffee mug

That 10" octagonal form would make a nice large shallow dish for succulents or larger bonsai if you added holes...

Ahhh!! Lol!

Sorry I am a little dense! Hilarious!

I have one in process currently making a special order for a customer. I'll send a couple pic of it when I'm done, it is going to be 14" round and 2" deep. That one should be perfect for succulent successes!! Here's some smaller ones of the style..
