The only time I've ever had bulk mulch delivered, I was mulching over an area that used to be a brush pile. It was near the street, so I had the mulch guy dump the load right where I needed to spread it. When I buy mulch in large quantities (and it's been a few years since I did), I bought palletized bags of it. Then I put the bags on my hand-truck, wheeled them to their new location, and when I had all the bags there, I opened them and spread them. It worked for me.
Last year, someone took out some trees nearby, and the tree guy gave me a huge load of wood chips from that. And the utility companies were trimming branches away from lines last year, and I got two nice truckloads of wood chips with leaves mixed in from them. Most of that batch sat all winter, so I've got some nice leaf-mold to spread around this spring.
