Love this tip! in Staking an amaryllis

If your amaryllis needs a stake, use an interesting branch from a pussy willow, crooked willow, contorted filbert, or whatever you have on hand. Just stick it down into the pot as far as it will go, and secure it to the bloom stalk with a bit of twine or even a twist-tie.

Thanks! Those particular branches won't root, as they're several years old, but I have a couple of fresh branches in one pot, so we'll see LOL!

It was just one of those light-bulb moments... I needed stakes for some top-heavy bloom stalks, and no way were chopsticks going to be tall enough for these... I happened to go into the living room, where I had a big vase of pussy willow, and thought, those have been on display like that long enough; let's put them to another use!

I've had 8 or 10 blooming pots lined up along the back of my kitchen island for the past few weeks and enough buds coming to extend the show for a couple more weeks... it's really fun... this is the time of year when it doesn't seem so crazy to have a whole lot of pots of bulbs LOL.

We're all learners, doers, teachers.
