Just beautiful! We have the native white daturas growing all over our property. It amazes me how fast they can grow, and with so little water. I never water them, so they were 6 months without water, and they all still grow and bloom.

My plants should make seeds in case you want to grow them.

Your doubles are just lovely, Joseph. I had a nice pale pink double brug, New Orleans Lady, but it didn't make it, sort of slowly petered out after about 2 years. It took a long time for it to make nice fluffy double flowers like yours too.

Karen, it always just astounded me those Datura would grow wild along the roadsides in southern Utah. We lived there for 21 years before moving to Florida, and tried to grow them in my daughter's garden in Salt Lake - they didn't do well at all with good soil, coddling and lots of water! We had to starve and dessicate them to make them bloom.

I have New Orleans Lady, and it towers above my 5'6" height. I have faith it will bloom again. It's my only Brugmansia.

If that datura does make seeds, I'd love to try some, Joseph.

Ours are probably the same daturas that grow by the roadsides in Utah, Elaine. They pop up in spring so quickly, and bloom like crazy with no care whatsoever. I've tried watering and pruning them around here, and they don't really care for it. They love the horrible rocky soil and neglect.

I am the definition of a beginner grower when it comes to Datura. I really don't know.

Well, I like what you've grown! I only have the single native white one, so I'm going on a quest for other colors and the doubles.

Trouble is, finding a reliable vendor. Also, Box of Chocolates apparently is variable in phenotype when grown from seed.

There's also a purple double Datura called Black Currant Swirl that is gorgeous. It's in our database:
