Not sure how 'Round Midnight' should mound up, I've looked at the Semp Database plant record, and I see evidence this one can have such short stolons that rosettes pile up on themselves. I don't like how my plant was looking with 3 rosettes jammed tight together, such that they face sideways. I decided to divide up my plant.
Thumb of 2018-08-09/AntMan01/39a64b

On the operating table, one rosette had a short stolon (the smaller rosette in the middle), and the two other rosettes were joined at the hip and I had to slice through the connection to separate them. Also harvested 6 chicks that were hiding within the interstitial space between crammed rosettes. A different Boston-based IPA (Harpoon) was essential for the operation.

Round Midnight rosettes replanted in a flat, chicks potted up.

How does your 'Round Midnight' grow? I like the color but not liking how it grows thus far.

Mark, not sure why yours are growing that way. Just came in from checking on mine. The colony is growing normally, chicks ringed around the mother rosette.

Glad you like it BigT.
It is one that has interesting color year round. This is the least colorful time of year for it, but I love even these colors.

Oh yeah! I checked it out in the DB. You provided a nice series of photos through the seasons. What a stunner.

I'd be interested to hear how it performs for Chris. His seasons would be more akin to mine, his winters a tad colder, (well probably a LOT colder. I hated Wisconsin winters.) my summers hotter, but still.

Thanks Lynn, as BigT said, love those colors. I'll chalk up the crammed-together growth on mine and an anomaly for this season, as with what happened to the Siamese triplets on Vlado (it'll need surgery too, to correct the mess).

For the longest time, I too thought Chris was he rather than she, oh those gender-interchangeable names! But I never let Chris know of my mistake... oops, just blew my cover *Blush*

He Chris is in Michigan
Both can deal with harsh winter weather.

She Chris' screen name kind of gives away her gender (goldfinch4). A beautiful singing goldfinch. Lovey dubby
