I can't believe how fun these raffles are! After the last one (sponsored by Horseshoe), Hetty (Dutchlady1) tree mailed me and asked if she could sponsor the next one. What wonderful people we have here. Smiling

Hetty suggeted that the tickets for this raffle be 10 acorns instead of 50 acorns, so that's what we're doing!

The raffle starts now and runs until April 14th.

The grand prize, donated by Dutchlady1, is a Plumeria rubra 'Texas Beauty', PSA Registered variety no. 261, one of the cultivars from Elizabeth Thornton, co-founder of the Plumeria Society of America.

Thank you, Dutchlady1, for such a generous prize!

As usual, the second place winner will receive an All Things Plants T-Shirt in the color and size you request (subject to availability).

Buy tickets here: http://garden.org/barn/raffle/...

Good luck and have fun!

And I was thinking the same thing about donating it to another as i have sworn not to zone jump & will not do a greenhouse. And I know just who I will donate it to if I should win. Now I just have to figure out how many tickets to buy.

Hetty,

What is the height and width of this plant?

Can it be grown in a container? How large of a container?

What are the soil, water and fertilizer requirements?

What is the hardiness zone?

Does it attract Hummers, Butterflies and/or Bees?

When does it bloom?

Any and all info that you can tell a newbie to Plumerias.

Just bought some acorn tickets!

I've never grown Plumeria. Not even sure (yet) it'll grow here. But I'm gonna invest some acorns in the chance of owning one! :>)

Thanks, Dutchlady1/Hetty, for offering it to us! A fun thing to do, eh!?
Looking forward to the not-a-raffle raffle!

Plumeria are tropical Flowering trees. Having said that, there are people growing them as far north as Minnesota.
The plant in question is in a one gallon pot and will be shipped barerooted. Plumeria go dormant in the winter months and can easily be stored in a frost free place. You can absolutely grow them in a container, I would step this one up to 3 gallons this summer. They will bloom anytime from March until Christmas. The flowers are beautiful and fragrant.
I recommend that if someone wins this who has never owned one before they jump onto my forum and we can talk about specifics.
Smiling Happy Easter to all who celebrate.
