We have had a lot of very heart-warming stories about your little (and sometimes big) animals.

I didn't want to clog your special threads by my little Shorty updates.

Leon's birds, Tom's horses, all your dogs, cats and whatever else you have taken in and cared for, even if for a very short time.

Marilyn, maybe we can get a good shot of Warp. Sherry, do you still have birds?

I love animals. We had several chickens, a dog, and a cat, but you all know the kitty cat story, and sadly our chickens all were...taken care of, to put it lightly, by other animals.

I'll have to update this post with some pictures! Great idea, Evelyn!

Warp, checking out some distraction way over in the neighbors' property. I was sitting on the patio glider, and he was sitting some way away from me, waiting for me to get up and go inside (and let him in).

Yes, he's a hefty boy, because he's a Treat Hound (whom DH enables), a fussy eater (who needs all sorts of goodies added to his dish just to get him to eat his Healthy Food), and he doesn't get enough vigorous running around exercise (because we're old and decrepit and DH is not doing His Job of taking him to the dog park).) (We talked about all this with the vet at last week's visit. The conclusion there was that the vet was pleased/surprised that he gets at least a mile walk most days and sometimes more (apparently most dogs do not), to continue feeding him WHAT we are feeding him but just give him less, and see what happens. (Withholding treats entirely or cutting back drastically is a no-go; believe me, we've tried, and he hounds us unmercifully to get whatever treat. We've been able to cut back a little on that score, but that's it.)

(More and more, except when he is at the Pet Sitter's (always a full house of big dogs there to run and play with), he is getting his running-around exercise when he yanks the leash out of my hands to go after some critter or other. Today's walk on a community college campus had 4 such events, for a gopher, squirrels, and (twice) some odd shrieking bird which really excited him.)

Genetically speaking, Warp's about 25% Lab (from both UK and US show lines), 10.85% Entlebucher Mountain Dog, 10.46% Weimaraner, 9.35% Affenpinscher (!), 5.72% Border Terrier (!), and 3.65% Vizla. Everything in him (save one) has been bred to hunt one critter or another, which is why he has such a strong prey drive and no critter is too big or too small for him. The odd dog out is the mountain dog, which just gives him extra strength, fearlessness, and agility for charging up and down steep creek banks and such. Rolling my eyes.

Edited to add that this is a very recent pic, taken 8-25

Marilyn - Warp looks so regal. What a handsome boy!

Richard - I bet Grover is ready to help! Dig holes maybe? They're both adorable!

Evelyn - Shorty looks frisky and mischievous. I bet he's a lot of fun. (Ah, I miss my kitties...)

I agree Monty, this is going to be a fun thread! Can't wait to see everyone's fur-babies!!

Today Shorty had a run in with a wasp. She went berserk! I had to put her in the garage for a nap. She was all over the place! Oh! She was flying high! I have never seen a cat fly so much as her.

I didn't see any swelling, but she was trying to catch it. She tries to catch everything! It was making her angry and she just kept on until I stomped on it hard. Then to catch her....that is another story! nodding

Warp and I thank you for your kind comments.

Glad she's okay! Wren tries to catch carpenter bees. The breeder says when they finally catch one and it's buzzing around in their mouths they can't get it out fast enough. But wasps, yellow jackets, etc, yikes! THAT'S a different story!
