I have been in search of a "true" purple rose! What is the name of this rose and is it fragrant? I have a light lavender and light magenta ( starts out as a red bud then opens as slightly purplish) both very fragrant -in my garden. Would love to have this rose to add if fragrant.

This is not a "true" purple rose. The purple photos are somewhat deceptive. It's a russet rose -- dark brick-red with a cream reverse. You added this comment to the entry for 'Garden Director Bartje Miller,' so you do know the name of the rose. It's also sold as 'Dark Night' and "Eddy Mitchell.' It is not a particularly fragrant rose. The scent is mild at best and nonexistent much of the time.
