Carpenter Bees and Ginger

There were at least half a dozen carpenter bees dining on this cluster of flowering gingers!

Yay to your photo but boo to the destruction the carpenter bees can cause. Your ginger looks lovely. I have never had much luck getting bloom on mine.

Ah, you're welcome Marilyn! It's Daniel Weeks. I bought it and a couple of others (Kin Ogi, Dr. Moy and another but the name escapes me) from Plant Delights (in Leslie's area!) Daniel has definitely been the stronger grower of the group. I also have a white butterfly ginger, but not sure of the specific variety for that one.

Leslie - Yeah, those carpenter bees are quite destructive. And we have a ton of them. :)

Cal - Too funny! Think the peanut M&Ms may be the most important item in that group. Hilarious!

And thank you @GaNinFl/, @iciris, @EscondidoCal, @Lestv, @TBGDN for the kind words!!!

Thanks for the variety name Casey. I pulled up the database on it if anyone wants to take a look at it.

My Mom used to refer to these bees as borer bees. I forgot that they can be destructive.

Now I have to go QC my bag of M&M's to make sure they're still good.
Oh, and it's good to have a jar of Jiff peanut butter, too......just for emergencies. Big Grin

And get some gingers!
I should have at least one, especially since that's my DW's name. ;)
