I had posted a picture of a large planting of an early blooming vigorous Plicata Iris in front of the Pelham Historic Society in hopes someone might recognize them. Last night I felt like searching for it and I think I found a winner! Standard Dwarf Bearded Iris 'Arctic Fancy' http://wiki.irises.org/bin/vie...
Here is my close up picture next to Iris Wiki's picture
Looks pretty right on the money to me.
Here are more pictures of them in front of the Historic Society building.

I was out doing Red Lily Beetle checks and noticed one of the new lilies I planted looks diseased. It is Iceclear which I got from the store above. I took a chance ordering from them even though I had never heard of them before and now I regret it. I am usually good about quarantining new lilies but they are such a pain to dig up and move without damaging I was lazy and now there is a chance of losing all my beloved lilies that have taken me years to get. I am so upset I wish I could post bad things about this place everywhere so everyone will avoid them. I am too upset to contact them right now but perhaps when I get over it a little I will.
I am pretty sure it is Lily Mosaic Virus.
This one was supposed to be 'Emma's Laughter' (Iris Wiki ) Very early bloom. Standards and style arms cool white tinted cool blue at base; Falls same, very faint haft marks, 5/8" overlap at hafts; beards blue white tipped yellow in throat; pleated ruffling; slight sweet fragrance.
It matches an Iris in their listings called Careless Whisper http://stores.iris-sisters.com...
Cheyenne Sky opened yesterday in the rain but I went out to see if it was as beautiful to me as I remember. And of course it was, however there was a very distracting orange bearded orange Iris right next to it! I had thought I saw some too orange looking buds to be Cheyenne Sky. Turns out they were. Just out of curiosity I looked at orange Iris from Rainbow Iris Farm since I was on there looking at other Iris they have and one looks just like it called Avalon Sunset. http://www.rainbowfarms.net/pr... is the picture they have of it.
and here are the ones I took..
I just dug it up and it was 2 rhizomes, I must of split it when digging the other Iris there last year. In my mind I was trying to keep Cheyenne Sky there.
