YARD SAILING!
The 55 plus community we are renting in has a once a year yard sale for 2 days where everyone puts their stuff out in the driveway or garage. Yesterday was the first day of it.
Talk about a shark feed! My goodness! The yard sale didn't start till 8 but that didn't stop people from coming before then. Some people drove in at 6 am & sat there in their cars until people started selling. I got out at 9 on Friday & went looking. We could use a knife sharpener here so that was on my list. I borrowed 1 from the dear sweet couple across the street to sharpen the 4 steak knives in this house. They had come over when we moved in & told us "anything you need....". But I hate to a borrower be. And I won't ask them again. Once is enough for neighborliness. Also looking for a small cheap desk. No luck on either. By the time I got there everything had been pretty well picked over. There was still some good stuff to be had but at this point I'm not willing to spend on stuff I'll just have to store & I can live without. I was covering territory fast as lightning; no dawdling. I had to have hit 30 places in an hour. On my way back up this street coming home there was a place 4 houses from us.
I made my first purchase for the house. I SAVED money. This is a light fixture which hangs from the ceiling. The guy was asking $5 & then he lowered it to $3. I didn't have the heart to dicker at that price. It was mine. At the moment I'm thinking it will go in the toilet stall. You can always find a place for something like this. It's in perfect shape.
A Wondrous Hole
I have always been possessed of a curiousity which knows no bounds. If there is a hole in the ground, I will poke a stick in it to find out what is in that hole, how deep it is, where it goes & what made it. Two of my dear friends have called me a "stick poker" & they are correct. I freely admit it.
I am forever saying, "I wonder......."
