On Thursday I went as usual to the Chelsea Flower Show; it was glorious! The scent and colours were amazing. All tickets had sold out long before the event and it was busy but it would not be Chelsea if it were not busy! I'd like to share some of the sights with you. Here's a bit of the Delphinium stand, and then a bit more.
A wall of Orchids then a splash of colour.
Pink or white Orchids, the choice is yours.
Chrysanthemums and Fuschias.
A lovely Iris and then quite a few of them!
Acers, one nursery stocks 2000 species!
Some more!
The beautiful Kentucky lady's slipper orchid and another slipper orchid, unfortunately not named!
Peonies and of course a Rose arch!
Chelsea would not be Chelsea without Lupins and one for the Bees.
A bit of the Gold Medal Winning British Garden and a vegetable garden.
A simple and quite gorgeous idea and then one of the Clematis stands!
An American invasion, then in the other photo not all American!
I like the colour of this Chrysantheum and then another Clematis stand.
Chelsea is really wrongly named as just a Flower Show, for it has everything for everybody. I love these wooden signs and the small stands you can buy anything from.
Of course it goes without saying there is something for the lovers of art, and a lot of it.
But there is something for the men as well!
A Helicopter made from plants from the charity that helps out our injured service people, and something for the Garden?
Hyacinths in bloom for Chelsea! Like a lot of things these are specially grown for the event! The scent was most heavenly!
Lovely Roses and a Bird of Paradise flower!
Fantastic Lilies and then a pure mass of colour!
In love with pink or some very precious and delicate Orchids?
I must give my thanks to the famous Chelsea pensioners. These quite wonderful ex military people who give up their home for the Flower Show every year. Everyone of these brave people also give their time to collect money for charity to help the injured, this is their home. Without them this amazing event could not happen, and I hasten to add they are all over 65 years old.
I could go on about Chelsea forever, but the only way to see it is to be there. I just wanted to share some of the sights of this incredible event with you, so I do hope you do not mind! To all the wonderful people I have met who have a common love of something beautiful, Thank you. On the day after I went to Chelsea it was my wife's (Sarah) Birthday and I wanted something special for her! So I spotted this condiment set, yes a salt and pepper set for the table with a difference, for they are stunning. We are both gardeners and cooks, see what you think?
Regards.
Neil.
